About Us
At Zeqo Systems, we are building a next-generation "School OS" powered by autonomous AI agents. Our platform grades complex student homework, generates dynamic study materials, and tutors students in real-time. We are currently preparing for a massive pilot launch across multiple schools, and we need a heavy-hitting backend engineer to help us scale.
The Challenge: Transitioning from a prototype architecture to a production-grade, highly concurrent system.
If you love untangling the Python Global Interpreter Lock (GIL), hunting down event-loop starvation in asyncio, and architecting robust worker queues to handle hundreds of simultaneous users, this is the role for you.
What You'll Do
- Architect for Concurrency: Migrate volatile asyncio background tasks into robust, decoupled worker queues using Celery & Redis to guarantee zero data loss under heavy concurrent loads.
- Eradicate Event-Loop Blocking: Audit and refactor our FastAPI backend to eliminate synchronous I/O blocking, ensuring rapid Time-To-First-Byte (TTFB) even when 100+ students submit homework simultaneously.
- Secure AI Execution: Design and implement strictly sandboxed environments (e.g., Docker/E2B) to safely execute LLM-generated code (like Physics simulation scripts).
- Optimize Database Topologies: Move our architecture from NullPool connections to highly optimized SQLAlchemy connection pools to prevent database exhaustion.
- Tame LLM Cascades: Implement Just-In-Time (JIT) generation and robust caching layers to prevent third-party AI API rate-limit cascades.
- Own the Infrastructure: Secure cloud buckets, enforce strict schema hygiene (UUIDs, normalized DateTimes), and integrate Sentry for crash tracking.
What You Bring
- Strong backend engineering experience with deep expertise in Python.
- Extensive experience with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, and PostgreSQL.
- Proven track record of designing distributed systems using Celery, Redis, or RabbitMQ.
- A deep understanding of Python's asyncio mechanics—you know exactly why putting a synchronous open() or a CPU-bound image rendering task in an async route is a bad idea.
- Strong security fundamentals: you know how to lock down cloud buckets, secure APIs, and sandbox untrusted code.
Bonus Points If You Have
- Experience building backend infrastructure for LLM applications (LangChain, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini).
- Familiarity with vector databases (Qdrant, Pinecone).
- Experience in the EdTech sector.
