# AI Voice Agent Engineer — Backend (Python)

## About the Role
Neurabit is looking for a backend engineer who lives and breathes voice agents and clean, fast code. You'll design, build, and optimize the systems that power our conversational voice AI — owning everything from low-latency APIs to the data layer behind them. If you obsess over performance and love untangling hard problems, this is for you.
## What You'll Do
- Design and build voice agent systems, including real-time conversation handling, speech pipelines, and dialog flow logic.
- Develop and maintain high-performance backend services using **FastAPI**.
- Write clean, efficient, production-grade **Python** with a strong focus on code optimization and low latency.
- Model, query, and optimize data in **MongoDB** for scale and speed.
- Diagnose and solve complex technical problems across the stack.
- Profile, benchmark, and continuously improve system performance and response times.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ship reliable, scalable features.
## What We're Looking For
- **3–4 years** of backend development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience building or integrating **voice agents** / conversational AI / speech systems.
- Expert-level **Python** with a proven track record of writing optimized, performant code.
- Solid production experience with **FastAPI**.
- Strong **MongoDB** skills — schema design, indexing, aggregation, query optimization.
- Excellent **problem-solving** ability and a structured approach to debugging.
- Comfort working with low-latency, real-time systems.
## Nice to Have
- Experience with speech-to-text / text-to-speech engines and speech to speech model (e.g. Whisper, Deepgram, ElevenLabs).
- Familiarity with LLM integration and prompt engineering for conversational agents.
- Knowledge of WebSockets, async programming, and streaming.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure) and containerization (Docker).
- Message queues (Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ).
