Position Summary
The Maintenance Executive shall be responsible for the upkeep, repair and preventive maintenance of all factory
utilities and production machinery, including Chillers, Boilers, Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), manufacturing
vessels, filling and packing machines, and other allied equipment. The role is critical to ensuring zero or negligible
production downtime through timely breakdown response and disciplined preventive maintenance scheduling. The
Maintenance Executive will work in close coordination with Production, Quality, EHS and Stores/Purchase teams
to keep the factory running safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
1. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Prepare and execute the Preventive Maintenance (PM) calendar for all utilities and production machinery.
- Carry out scheduled inspections, lubrication, calibration and condition-based checks to avoid unplanned
breakdowns.
- Maintain equipment history cards / CMMS records for all critical machines.
- Recommend predictive maintenance practices (vibration, thermography, oil analysis) where applicable.
2. Breakdown Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Attend to equipment breakdowns promptly to minimize downtime and restore production at the earliest.
- Diagnose root causes of recurring failures and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain a breakdown log and track Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and Mean Time Between Failures
(MTBF).
3. Utility Equipment Management
- Ensure reliable operation and maintenance of Chillers, Boilers, Air Compressors, DG sets and cooling
towers.
- Oversee operation and upkeep of the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), including statutory discharge norms.
- Monitor utility consumption (power, steam, water, compressed air) and identify efficiency improvement
opportunities.
- Ensure boiler operation is compliant with the Boilers Act and holds valid statutory certification.
4. Production Machinery Maintenance
- Maintain manufacturing vessels, mixers, homogenizers and allied process equipment.
- Maintain filling machines, cappers, labelling and packing line equipment for smooth changeovers and run
rates.
- Support installation, commissioning and validation of new machines and line modifications.
5. Spare Parts & Inventory Management
- Maintain adequate critical spares inventory to avoid extended downtime.
- Raise timely indents/requisitions and coordinate with Stores/Purchase for spares and consumables.
- Evaluate vendors for AMC, spares and equipment services.
6. Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with the Factories Act, Boilers Act, Pollution Control norms and other applicable
regulations relevant to machinery and utilities.
- Maintain statutory registers, logbooks and records for boiler, pressure vessels, ETP and electrical
installations.
- Coordinate inspections and renewals with statutory authorities as required.
7. Safety in Maintenance Operations
- Follow Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures during all maintenance and repair activities.
- Ensure use of appropriate PPE and safe work practices by self and maintenance team members.
- Coordinate with the Safety Officer on machine guarding, electrical safety audits and permit-to-work
systems for high-risk jobs.
8. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain PM schedules, breakdown reports, equipment history, spares consumption and downtime reports.
- Prepare and share daily/weekly/monthly maintenance MIS and downtime analysis with the Factory/Plant
Manager.
- Maintain calibration and statutory compliance records for relevant equipment.
9. Vendor & Contractor Coordination
- Coordinate with OEMs, AMC vendors and service contractors for repairs, servicing and equipment
upgrades.
- Verify work quality and safety compliance of external maintenance contractors.
10. Team Supervision
- Guide and supervise maintenance technicians/helpers and allocate daily maintenance tasks.
- Train junior maintenance staff on equipment operation, troubleshooting and safety procedures.
Experience
- 3–7 years of experience in factory/plant maintenance, preferably in FMCG, cosmetics, chemical or
pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with boilers, chillers, ETP, manufacturing vessels and filling/packing machinery is
essential.
- Experience in a fast-paced, multi-shift manufacturing environment preferred.
Qualification
- Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation or a related Engineering discipline.
- Boiler Attendant / Competency Certificate will be an added advantage.
- Basic working knowledge of PLC-based machines and utility automation preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical and utility systems (boiler, chiller, ETP,
compressors).
- Working knowledge of preventive maintenance planning and CMMS/maintenance MIS tools.
- Good troubleshooting, analytical and root-cause problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of the Factories Act, Boiler Act and related statutory requirements.
- Ability to work under pressure to minimize production downtime.
- Good coordination and communication skills to work across Production, Quality, EHS and Stores
functions.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office / maintenance reporting tools.
Working Conditions
- Role is based full-time at the Mumbai factory with hands-on presence on the shop floor and utility area.
- Availability during breakdowns/emergencies as required.
- Occasional extended working hours during shutdowns, audits or equipment commissioning.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
