PHP WordPress Backend DeveloperJob Summary
We are looking for a skilled PHP WordPress Backend Developer with 1-4 years of hands-on experience in developing, customizing, and maintaining WordPress websites and web applications. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in PHP, WordPress backend development, custom plugin development, MySQL, REST APIs, and third-party integrations.
You will be responsible for building scalable backend solutions, developing custom WordPress functionality, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring high performance, security, and code quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress websites and backend applications using PHP.
- Build and maintain custom WordPress plugins, themes, modules, and functionalities.
- Develop custom solutions using WordPress hooks, actions, filters, custom post types, taxonomies, and APIs.
- Integrate third-party APIs and services with WordPress applications.
- Develop and consume RESTful APIs using JSON/XML and handle data exchange between systems.
- Work with MySQL/MariaDB to design, query, optimize, and manage databases.
- Identify and resolve backend issues, bugs, and performance bottlenecks.
- Optimize WordPress websites for performance, scalability, security, and reliability.
- Implement and maintain WordPress security best practices, including secure coding, authentication, permissions, and data validation.
- Work with frontend developers and designers to ensure seamless integration between frontend interfaces and backend functionality.
- Use debugging and developer tools such as Chrome DevTools/Inspector to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Maintain clean, reusable, well-documented, and scalable code.
- Use Git and other version control systems for source-code management and collaborative development.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and ongoing website maintenance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 1-4 years of professional experience in PHP and WordPress development.
- Strong proficiency in PHP, WordPress, and backend web development.
- Hands-on experience in custom WordPress plugin development.
- Strong understanding of WordPress architecture, hooks, actions, filters, and core APIs.
- Experience with MySQL/MariaDB and database optimization.
- Good understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, and third-party API integrations.
- Familiarity with MVC architecture/frameworks is preferred.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and basic frontend integration.
- Hands-on experience with WordPress tools/plugins such as Elementor, Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), Gutenberg, and Gravity Forms.
- Understanding of WordPress security best practices.
- Familiarity with debugging and browser developer tools.
- Proficiency in Git or other version control systems.
- Understanding of website performance optimization, caching, database optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Good to Have
- Experience with WooCommerce and custom WooCommerce development.
- Familiarity with PHP frameworks such as Laravel or CodeIgniter.
- Basic knowledge of JavaScript/jQuery.
- Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Linux environments, and cloud hosting platforms.
- Experience working with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
- Understanding of SEO-friendly WordPress development and website optimization.
