Business Unit: EPS Mobility
Role: Manufacturing Line Manager - Motor
The Manufacturing Line Manager will lead daily operations of one or more EV traction motor production lines, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing. You will manage shift teams, drive OEE/FPY, meet OTIF delivery, control scrap and costs, and collaborate cross?functionally (ME, Maintenance, SQE, Quality, EHS) to stabilize and scale production from pilot to mass manufacture.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance (EHS)
- Enforce a zero?harm culture; lead daily safety huddles, LOTO, chemical/resin handling protocols, and HV test area controls.
- Ensure machine guarding, interlocks, ergonomics, and PPE compliance; conduct Layered Process Audits (LPA) and safety Gemba walks.
- Maintain compliance with site EHS, electrical safety for EOL testing (hipot/IR/PD), laser safety, and statutory requirements; close findings on time.
Quality & Regulatory
- Own line?level FPY, PPM, and warranty escape prevention.
- Execute and sustain Control Plans, PFMEA mitigations, SPC on CTQs, and MSA (gage R&R); ensure operator certification/recertification.
- Ensure adherence to IATF 16949/ISO 9001 procedures, APQP/PPAP deliverables (Run@Rate, capability), and traceability (serialisation/data retention).
- Drive structured problem solving (5?Why, Fishbone, 8D) and lead MRB for nonconforming product.
Delivery, Throughput & OEE
- Achieve plan vs. actual output, takt adherence, OEE targets (Availability/Performance/Quality), and OTIF to customers/next process.
- Own daily/weekly S&OE (short?interval control), bottleneck management, WIP/kanban discipline, and heijunka/level loading.
- Implement SMED for changeovers; reduce micro?stoppages; maintain Andon response and escalation rigor.
Cost & Resource Management
- Manage labor planning, overtime, consumables, and scrap/rework cost; deliver Cogs and productivity (units/HC hour).
- Execute VAVE/cost?down at the line (material utilization, yield improvement, cycle?time reduction).
- Track and improve energy usage per unit; support inventory accuracy and cycle counts.
Maintenance, TPM & Automation Uptime
- Partner with Maintenance to implement TPM: autonomous maintenance (CIL), preventive maintenance adherence, MTBF/MTTR improvement.
- Ensure uptime of key equipment: winding/insertion/forming, laser welding, impregnation/curing, balancing, press fits, leak testing, and EOL testers.
- Approve equipment buy?off, IQ/OQ/PQ evidences, and software/recipe controls (change management).
Industrialization Support (NPI Ramp)
- Support pilot builds, line trials, and capability studies (Cp/Cpk); give DFM feedback to design/ME.
- Prepare Run Rate, facilitate PPAP with SQE/Quality, and stabilize ramp curves to rate.
Qualifications:
- 8–12+ years in production/operations for electro?mechanical or automotive manufacturing; 3+ years leading multi?shift teams or a full production line.
- Hands?on with motor processes: lamination stacking/interlocks, hairpin/conventional winding, forming, laser/TIG welding, impregnation/varnish/curing, rotor assembly, press fits, balancing, sealing/potting, and EOL testing.
- Strong knowledge of IATF 16949/ISO 9001, APQP/PPAP, PFMEA/Control Plans, GD&T basics, SPC/MSA, and Lean/TPM.
- Proficiency with MES, OEE dashboards, problem solving (8D/A3), and short?interval control.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and decision making under ambiguity
