Project Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical & Building Systems)Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Engineer to support the planning, coordination, execution, and monitoring of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and building systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, and government construction projects. This role requires strong technical knowledge of building systems, excellent coordination skills, and the ability to work closely with project managers, subcontractors, consultants, and field teams throughout the project lifecycle.
This is a remote full-time position with mandatory night shift availability from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. (US based timings)
Key Responsibilities
- Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and construction documents related to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and specialty building systems
- Coordinate design reviews and constructability reviews for MEP and building systems
- Assist Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, procurement, and execution activities
- Review and track submittals, shop drawings, product data, and material approvals
- Prepare and manage RFIs (Requests for Information), technical clarifications, and coordination documents
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to resolve technical issues
- Monitor installation progress and ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, standards, and contract requirements
- Assist in procurement and tracking of long-lead equipment such as boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, elevators, generators, electrical switchgear, pumps, fire protection systems, and related building systems
- Review and coordinate equipment layouts, utility requirements, and system interfaces
- Support commissioning, testing, startup, and closeout activities
- Track project schedules, action items, design changes, and field coordination issues
- Assist in preparing meeting agendas, meeting minutes, progress reports, and project documentation
- Coordinate with field personnel and subcontractors to ensure timely completion of work
- Review change orders, field directives, and scope modifications for technical impacts

Requirements
- Experience in construction project engineering, MEP engineering
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and contracts
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical building systems, including HVAC, boilers, elevators, plumbing, fire protection, generators, switchgear, pumps, and related equipment
- Knowledge of construction processes, project coordination, procurement, and document control
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field but working in the Construction Field
- Experience supporting construction works related MEP.
- Familiarity with HVAC systems, boilers, elevators, fire protection systems, electrical distribution systems, and building automation systems
- Experience reviewing submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and technical documentation
- Familiarity with project scheduling software and construction management platforms
- Understanding of commissioning and turnover processes
