About the Role
We are hiring a Backend Developer Intern to join our Development Department.
This role focuses on building backend systems, AI-powered tools, automation workflows, and internal applications (“widgets”) that support multiple departments across the organization.
You will work on real-world systems that help automate business processes and integrate AI capabilities into internal tools.
This is a backend-heavy role (no frontend frameworks required) focused on Python, Java, databases, APIs, and AI tool integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs
- Develop AI-powered internal tools and automation systems
- Create department-specific widgets and utilities (tools, dashboards, scripts, micro-apps)
- Work with databases (SQL + NoSQL concepts) for data storage and retrieval
- Integrate AI tools (Claude Code / OpenAI APIs / LLM-based systems) into workflows
- Convert business requirements into technical automation solutions
- Build lightweight systems for reporting, automation, and internal operations
- Debug, test, and optimize backend applications
Tech Stack (Must Be Comfortable With)
Core Backend
- Python and/or Java (strong focus on backend logic)
- SQL (PostgreSQL preferred)
- Basic understanding of NoSQL (MongoDB concepts)
- REST APIs & JSON
AI & Automation Tools
- Claude Code / OpenAI APIs (or similar LLM tools)
- AI-assisted development workflows
- Automation tools & scripting
System Concepts
- Client-server architecture
- Basic system design thinking
- API integrations
- Data flow understanding
Preferred Skills
- Strong logical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Interest in AI tools and automation systems
- Ability to build small tools quickly (scripts, utilities, internal apps)
- Understanding of Git/GitHub basics
- Curiosity to learn backend systems deeply
- Comfort working across multiple backend technologies
