What You Will Do

This role as Principal (Data Strategy & Governance) at Amgen plays a key part in defining and operationalizing Data governance collaboration with the leadership for Data Foundation and Governance and Amgen business functions. This role requires engaging with Business functions and help in progressing with the data maturity journey at Amgen through FAIR and enterprise data strategy.
Key Responsibilities:

Design and operationalize Enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operating models

Engage with business functions to lead and drive data governance for top priority initiatives such as AI, analytics, and digital programs

Drive Data governance maturity across Amgen through FAIR
-
Define and align the data governance capability roadmap required to deliver the enterprise data strategy goals
-
Establish Data governance councils, stewardship forums, and data ownership models
-
Identify opportunities to modernize data governance to generate AI-ready, trusted, and reusable data
-
Define and establish governance operating models for critical data elements and business domains
-
Develop and own process to data mapping for critical data in key business processes
-
Establish and facilitate mechanism to manage data risks, issues, and escalations
-
Define and drive adoption of data governance, data products, and metadata governance frameworks

Partner with Enterprise MDM to govern master and reference data standards
-
Support audit-readiness and regulatory & compliance inspections. Conduct data governance risk assessments

Define and establish Data governance controls in compliance with regulatory requirements
-
Partner with Data Products managers to drive value realization of data governance initiatives
-
Build data governance controls for data products, AI-ready data, and knowledge layer assets
-
Help operationalize framework for unstructured data management at Enterprise level

Identify opportunities and drive implementation of AI-driven interventions in data management lifecycle and data stewardship

Bring in thought leadership to advance the Data governance capability evolution

Coach and mentor Data management professionals

Manage vendor relations and governance tools implementation
Mandatory skills and qualifications:
-
12-16 years of relevant experience in data governance and data management
-
Strong expertise in defining and executing Data governance frameworks and playbooks
-
Good exposure in defining Enterprise data governance frameworks
-
Expertise in Data Governance, and at least one of other Data management capabilities such as Data quality and Master data management etc.

Good experience in value articulation of data governance initiatives
-
Good experience with Data governance tools such as Collibra and other data management platforms for Data quality management and Master data management

Exposure to unstructured data management
-
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
-
Experience in navigating complex stakeholder ecosystem
Preferred skills and qualification:

Experience in Pharma/Healthcare industries
