ROLE OVERVIEW
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader within our semiconductor equipment engineering team, driving the design and development of high-precision capital equipment and industrial machinery. You will own complex product development programmes end-to-end from concept and detailed design through prototype, build, and test cycles
In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including process engineers, software and controls engineers, Multiphysics modelling specialists, and suppliers to resolve challenging design problems and address high-value customer requirements. You will also play a key mentoring role, guiding junior engineers through design trade-offs and best practices. This is a significant opportunity to shape the next generation of semiconductor equipment at a company actively defining the future of advanced packaging technology.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES but not limited to:
- Provide technical leadership to guide engineering teams through design trade-offs across prototype, build, and test cycles.
- Lead projects of notable complexity and risk; develop top-level design strategy for product development programmes.
- Collaborate with the Multiphysics modelling team to analyse performance characteristics and evaluate design trade-offs.
- Resolve design problems related to product performance across engineering, manufacturing, and field environments.
- Interface with internal and external customers on significantly complex engineering issues, addressing High Value Problems (HVPs) across a range of products.
- Facilitate communication across diverse teams including process engineers, technicians, software/controls teams, and suppliers.
- Ensure design specifications comply with and exceed all applicable regulatory standards in coordination with relevant departments.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve a wide range of complex engineering problems; perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Prioritise and manage multiple concurrent projects within defined design specifications and budget constraints.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Strong expertise in precision mechanical design, FEA, GD&T, and complex mechanism development.
- In-depth knowledge of engineering plastics including polypropylene, PVDF, Teflon, PTFE, PFA, PVC, and similar materials.
- Develop, design, or modify mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, or drawings/specifications
- Perform advanced stress, thermal, tolerance, and vibration analyses.
- Define test requirements, coordinate test execution and document complex engineering test reports and specifications
- Drive DFX initiatives while establishing operational standards.
- Proven ability to independently lead complete product design and development cycles.
- Proficiency in mechanical design software, specifically SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Good knowledge of ASME, ISO, and SEMI standards applicable to semiconductor equipment.
- A collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively across engineering disciplines.
- Self-motivated with the ability to deliver results under minimal supervision.
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities with a commitment to developing junior talent.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 6–8 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on capital equipment or industrial machinery.
- Prior exposure to semiconductor equipment, precision manufacturing, or high-tolerance engineering environments is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineering team members.
- Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
