Job Summary :
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior ETL QA Engineer with 6+ years of experience in ETL testing, data warehouse validation, database testing, and data quality assurance. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL, ETL tools, and data validation techniques, with hands-on experience in testing complex data pipelines and ensuring data integrity across multiple systems.
Key Responsibilities :
- Analyze business requirements, source-to-target mapping documents, and functional specifications to create effective test strategies.
- Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scenarios for ETL and Data Warehouse applications.
- Validate data extraction, transformation, and loading processes to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Perform source-to-target data validation and reconciliation.
- Test batch processing jobs, data migration processes, and incremental loads.
- Verify data quality, integrity, consistency, and transformation logic.
- Develop and execute complex SQL queries for backend validation and data comparison.
- Validate stored procedures, views, functions, and triggers.
- Perform system, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
- Identify, document, and track defects using Jira, ALM, or Azure DevOps.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Developers, Business Analysts, and stakeholders to ensure quality deliverables.
- Prepare test execution reports and maintain testing documentation.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Support production releases and post-deployment validations.
Required Technical Skills :
1. ETL & Data Warehouse Testing :
- 6+ years of experience in ETL Testing and Database QA.
- Strong understanding of Data Warehouse concepts :
a. Star Schema
b. Snowflake Schema
c. Fact and Dimension Tables
d. Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD Type 1 & Type 2)
e. Data Marts
- Experience validating :
a. Full Load and Incremental Load
b. Change Data Capture (CDC)
c. Data Migration and Reconciliation
d. Data Quality and Transformation Rules
2. Database Skills :
- Strong SQL expertise with hands-on experience in :
a. Complex Joins
b. Subqueries
c. CTEs
d. Window Functions
e. Aggregations
f. Stored Procedures
g. Functions and Views
- Experience with databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
3. ETL Tools :
- Experience with one or more ETL tools : Informatica PowerCenter, SSIS, Talend, IBM DataStage, Ab Initio, and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
4. Testing Tools :
- Jira, HP ALM, Azure DevOps, and Quality Center.
5. Operating Systems & Scripting :
- Unix/Linux commands and Shell scripting basics.
Preferred Skills :
- Experience with Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Exposure to Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, or Synapse Analytics.
- Knowledge of Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Hive, or Spark.
- Experience with API testing using Postman.
- Basic knowledge of Python for test automation and data validation.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
Educational Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Relevant certifications in ETL, Database, Cloud, or Quality Assurance are preferred.
