Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Advisory

Advise school leadership on applicable education laws, rules, policies, circulars, notifications, and compliance requirements issued by the Directorate of Education, Delhi.
Interpret and guide the school on matters relating to the Delhi School Education Act, 1973, Delhi School Education Rules, 1973, school recognition, fee-related compliance, admissions, inspections, service rules, and statutory filings.
Track relevant policy changes, departmental circulars, and regulatory updates that may affect school operations.
Provide practical guidance to ensure the school’s decisions and documentation are aligned with regulatory expectations.

Department Liaison

Act as the school’s professional point of coordination with the Directorate of Education, district education offices, zonal offices, and other relevant government departments.
Assist in preparing, submitting, and following up on applications, representations, replies, approvals, clarifications, and compliance submissions.
Support management during inspections, departmental queries, hearings, notices, or compliance reviews.
Help the school maintain constructive and compliant relationships with government authorities.

Compliance & Documentation

Review school documentation, records, policies, and submissions from a regulatory compliance perspective.
Assist in drafting letters, replies, explanations, representations, and compliance reports to government authorities.
Maintain a tracker of pending approvals, renewals, notices, inspections, filings, and departmental communications.
Guide internal teams on maintaining proper records for inspections, audits, and departmental review.

Strategic Advisory to Management

Advise the school management on regulatory risks and practical steps to address them.
Provide inputs on new initiatives, expansion plans, recognition matters, fee matters, staffing-related compliance, and other governance issues.
Support management in decision-making by explaining departmental processes, timelines, expectations, and likely compliance implications.

Desired Candidate Profile

Former officer / senior official / experienced professional from the Delhi Education Department, Directorate of Education, or related school education regulatory body.
Strong working knowledge of Delhi school regulations, especially the Delhi School Education Act, 1973 and Delhi School Education Rules, 1973.
Prior experience handling school recognition, inspections, compliance matters, departmental correspondence, admissions, fee-related issues, or school administration matters.
Existing understanding of Directorate of Education processes, district/zonal office functioning, and documentation requirements.
Strong drafting, communication, and representation skills.
Ability to work with school promoters, management, principals, administrative teams, and external authorities.
High standards of integrity, discretion, confidentiality, and professional conduct.

Important Conduct Expectations

The consultant must operate strictly within legal and ethical boundaries. The role is advisory and liaison-oriented, and does not include any improper influence, facilitation payments, misuse of confidential government information, or actions contrary to applicable law or public policy.
