Adding Items

Item Identification: Create unique identifiers (SKU numbers) for each item to facilitate tracking and inventory management.
Data Entry: Input detailed information about each item into the inventory management system, including:
Description
Quantity
Unit of measure
Location in the warehouse
Supplier information
Cost and pricing details
Labeling: Ensure all items are properly labeled for easy identification and scanning.
Inventory Updates: Regularly update inventory records as new items are received or existing items are depleted.

Managing Bills of Materials (BOM)

Definition of BOM: Understand that a BOM is a comprehensive list of raw materials, sub-assemblies, components, and quantities required to manufacture a finished product.
Creating BOMs: For each product, create and maintain a BOM that details:
Components required
Quantities of each component
Unit of measure
Any specific instructions or notes related to assembly
Inventory Control: Ensure that all components listed in the BOM are available in the warehouse and track their usage against production schedules.
Costing and Pricing: Use BOMs to calculate the total cost of producing an item, helping to inform pricing strategies.
