Job Summary
The Garments QC Manager designs factory-wide Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), leads localized quality audits, and acts as the technical liaison for external buyer auditors. Their ultimate performance objective is maintaining low defect rates across fabric inspection, cutting, sewing, and final packaging departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Establish structural factory quality parameters following specific buyer instructions.
- Formulate precise end-to-end check sheets for individual assembly and sewing operators.
- Introduce Lean manufacturing methodologies or DMAIC approaches to eliminate defects.
- Pre-Production Quality Assurance
- Audit incoming materials including fabrics, labels, threads, and zippers.
- Oversee fabric testing protocols for shrinkage, color fastness, and weight (GSM).
- Review sample apparel fits and flag technical production issues before mass cutting.
- In-Line Production & Floor Monitoring
- Enforce periodic, random checks on sewing line outputs to fix structural defects early.
- Verify sewing parameters, such as SPI (Stitches Per Inch), seam strength, and edge alignments.
- Collaborate with production line managers to resolve ongoing machine defects.
- Final Inspection & Compliance
- Manage full measurement audits of completed, pressed garments against original tech packs.
- Supervise final packaging, ensuring barcode scanning, tag placement, and cartoon carton counts are perfect.
- Coordinate directly with buyer representatives or external inspection bodies for final Acceptable Quality Limit (AQL) handovers.
- Team Leadership & Data Analysis
- Train and upskill quality control inspectors, supervisors, and finishing auditors.
- Generate daily Management Information Systems (MIS) reports mapping defect percentages and tracking rejected parts.
- Lead Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) analysis when recurring buyer rejections occur.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Usually requires 5 to 10+ years of direct quality management experience within a textile, apparel, or garment manufacturing factory environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Exceptional grip on textile faults (e.g., barre, shaded panels, broken stitches, puckering) and a deep understanding of standard international measurement regulations.
- Certifications & Systems: Familiarity with international social and quality standards (like ISO 9001, AQL 1.5/2.5 systems, OEKO-TEX, or brand-specific auditing matrices).
- Leadership Traits: Strong problem-solving skills under stressful shipping deadlines, with excellent written communication for detailing technical flaws to factory owners and international buyers.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
