Position: Consultant Pathologist
Department: Pathology & Laboratory Services
Reports To: Medical Superintendent / Medical Director
Location:Vedansh Superspecilaity Hospital & Heart Centre
Job Summary
The Consultant Pathologist is responsible for overseeing laboratory diagnostic services, examining and interpreting laboratory specimens, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, and maintaining quality standards in the pathology department. The role involves collaboration with clinicians to support patient diagnosis and treatment planning.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Examine, analyze, and interpret blood, urine, tissue, cytology, and other laboratory specimens.
- Provide accurate and timely pathology reports.
- Diagnose diseases through laboratory investigations and microscopic examination.
- Correlate laboratory findings with clinical information to support diagnosis and treatment.
- Review and validate laboratory test results before final reporting.
- Provide expert consultation to clinicians regarding pathological findings.
Laboratory Management
- Supervise laboratory operations and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Monitor the accuracy and reliability of laboratory testing procedures.
- Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and functioning of laboratory equipment.
- Implement and monitor quality control and quality assurance programs.
- Ensure compliance with NABH, NABL, and other regulatory requirements.
Histopathology & Cytopathology
- Examine biopsy and surgical specimens.
- Interpret cytology samples, including FNAC and Pap smear specimens.
- Prepare and sign histopathology and cytopathology reports.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Participate in departmental meetings, audits, and quality improvement activities.
- Develop and update laboratory policies, SOPs, and protocols.
- Ensure proper inventory management of laboratory consumables and reagents.
Teaching & Training
- Guide laboratory technicians, residents, and healthcare staff.
- Conduct training sessions and continuing medical education (CME) programs.
- Participate in academic and research activities.
Patient Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to infection control practices and laboratory safety guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory data.
- Follow ethical and professional standards in reporting and consultation.
Qualification
- MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
- MD/DNB in Pathology from a recognized institution.
- Valid State Medical Council Registration.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Consultant Pathologist preferred.
- Experience in Histopathology, Cytopathology, Hematology, Clinical Pathology, and Laboratory Quality Management.
Skills Required
- Strong diagnostic and analytical skills.
- Expertise in laboratory medicine and pathology reporting.
- Knowledge of NABH/NABL standards and laboratory accreditation requirements.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions
- Laboratory-based work with regular interaction with clinicians and healthcare teams.
- Availability for urgent consultations and critical report reviews as required.
Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
