Full job description

Librarian

Role:
To manage the school library effectively, support teaching and learning, and foster a love for reading, research, and lifelong learning among students.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain the library collection, including cataloguing books and learning resources.
Handle book circulation, including issuing, returning, and tracking library materials.
Assist students and teachers in locating and using library resources effectively.
Organise reading programs, book fairs, storytelling sessions, and literacy activities.
Maintain accurate library records, inventories, and reports.
Ensure the library remains a safe, organised, and welcoming learning environment.
Support curriculum requirements by collaborating with teachers and recommending relevant resources.
Promote responsible use of library facilities and digital resources.

Qualifications & Experience

Graduate or Postgraduate Degree in Library Science, Library & Information Science, or a related field.
Prior experience in a school library is preferred.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Ability to interact positively and effectively with students, teachers, and staff.
Basic knowledge of library management systems/software will be an added advantage.
Passion for promoting reading, research, and independent learning among students.
