We are seeking a detail-oriented Credit Analyst to evaluate mortgage applications, assess borrower creditworthiness, and support informed lending decisions.

Position Summary

The Credit Analyst – Mortgage is responsible for reviewing mortgage loan applications, analyzing financial documents, assessing borrower risk, and ensuring compliance with lending guidelines and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in mortgage lending or financial services.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze mortgage loan applications and supporting documentation.
Review credit reports, income documents, tax returns, bank statements, and employment verification.
Calculate debt-to-income (DTI), loan-to-value (LTV), and other key lending ratios.
Assess borrower creditworthiness and identify potential lending risks.
Ensure loan files comply with company policies, investor guidelines, and applicable regulations.
Prepare detailed credit assessments and recommendations for underwriting decisions.
Communicate with loan officers, processors, brokers, and other stakeholders to obtain missing or additional documentation.
Identify discrepancies or inconsistencies in loan documentation and recommend appropriate actions.
Maintain accurate records and documentation throughout the loan review process.
Stay informed of changes in mortgage lending regulations, products, and industry best practices.
Meet productivity, quality, and turnaround time targets.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field (preferred).
2–5 years of experience in mortgage lending, credit analysis, underwriting support, or financial analysis.
Strong understanding of residential mortgage products and lending guidelines.
Knowledge of credit analysis principles, financial statement analysis, and risk assessment.
Familiarity with mortgage processing systems and loan origination software.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple loan files and deadlines.

Preferred Skills

Experience with conventional, FHA, VA, and non-conforming mortgage products.
Knowledge of AUS platforms such as Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Product Advisor (LPA).
Understanding of compliance requirements and responsible lending practices.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong time management and teamwork skills.
