About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to support our finance and operations function within a fast-paced language services business in UK.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing invoicing and credit control, allocating payments, and supporting strong client relationships. This role is central to ensuring healthy cash flow, accurate billing, and smooth financial operations across the business and group companies.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Control & Accounts Receivable

· Monitor and manage outstanding invoices in line with agreed credit terms

· Proactively follow up overdue payments via email and telephone

· Escalate long-outstanding or disputed accounts to management when required

· Maintain accurate credit control records and client communication logs

· Prepare, issue, and distribute invoices and credit notes accurately and on time

· Allocate incoming payments correctly against invoices

· Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, short payments, and remittance queries

· Ensure invoices align with approved rates, timesheets, and service records

· Prepare weekly and monthly client statements

· Maintain aged debtor reports and provide regular updates to management

· Assist with month-end reconciliations and accounts receivable reporting

· Verify timesheets prior to invoicing and approval

· Liaise with operations teams to resolve missing or incorrect timesheets

· Ensure accurate financial data recording and documentation

· Act as the main point of contact for client billing, invoice, and payment queries

· Maintain professional communication with clients at all times

· Support resolution of billing disputes in coordination with operations and management

· Ensure adherence to internal financial procedures and controls

· Maintain accurate records for audit and compliance purposes

· Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and efficiency

· Assist with ad hoc finance and administrative tasks

· Support the wider finance team during peak periods and audits

· Maintain confidentiality of all financial and client information

· Coordinate with external/internal accountants across , to support bookkeeping, ledger management, payroll support, payment reconciliation, supplier accounts, and financial reporting.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

· Reduction in aged debt and overdue balances

· Accuracy and timeliness of invoicing and payment allocation

· Timely issuance of weekly/monthly client statements

· Responsiveness to client finance queries

· Accuracy of timesheet validation and billing data

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

· Minimum BCom / MCom.

· Proven experience in accounts or book keeping activities

· Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy

· Experience with sage would be desirable.

· Experience in invoicing, credit control, or accounts administration

· Good communication and client-handling skills

· Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems

· Ability to manage deadlines and work independently

· Understanding of UK accounting, VAT and credit control practices (preferred)
