Position: Consultant Radiologist
Department: Radiology
Reports To: Medical Superintendent

Job Summary

The Consultant Radiologist is responsible for providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services, interpreting radiological examinations, and supporting clinicians in the diagnosis and management of patients. The role involves performing and reporting various imaging procedures while ensuring adherence to professional, ethical, and hospital standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities

Interpret and report diagnostic imaging studies, including X-rays, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Mammography, and other radiological procedures as applicable.
Perform and supervise radiological examinations and image-guided procedures.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of imaging studies.
Collaborate with referring physicians and multidisciplinary teams for patient diagnosis and treatment planning.
Provide expert consultation on radiological findings and recommendations.
Maintain high standards of patient care and safety during imaging procedures.

Quality and Compliance

Ensure compliance with hospital policies, radiation safety regulations, and statutory requirements.
Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Maintain accurate medical records and reporting documentation.
Monitor equipment performance and report any maintenance requirements.

Administrative Responsibilities

Support the Medical Superintendent in departmental planning and service improvement.
Participate in departmental meetings, audits, and clinical reviews.
Assist in developing and implementing departmental protocols and SOPs.
Contribute to accreditation and regulatory compliance activities.

Teaching and Training

Provide guidance and training to junior doctors, radiographers, technicians, and other healthcare professionals.
Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs and professional development activities.

On-Call Duties

Provide emergency and on-call radiology services as per hospital requirements and duty roster.
Ensure availability for urgent consultations and reporting when required.

Qualifications

MBBS from a recognized institution.
MD/DNB in Radiodiagnosis or equivalent recognized qualification.
Valid Medical Council Registration.
Fellowship or specialized training in Radiology will be an added advantage.

Experience

Relevant experience in diagnostic and interventional radiology preferred.
Experience in reporting CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and other imaging modalities.
Freshly qualified specialists may also be considered based on competency and skills.

Skills and Competencies

Strong diagnostic and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Sound knowledge of radiation safety and imaging protocols.
Strong commitment to patient-centered care and ethical medical practice.
Ability to manage workload efficiently and maintain reporting accuracy.
