Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Application Engineer (Product Selection and Quotation) to join our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
Project quotation and costing
You will prepare accurate quotations for engineered systems, equipment packages and project-based enquiries.
You will review customer specifications, drawings, P&IDs, Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to determine the most suitable technical solution.
You will prepare detailed cost estimates covering equipment, accessories, fabrication, testing, commissioning and logistics.
You will work closely with our parent manufacturing factories to obtain pricing, lead times and technical clarifications.
You will ensure quotations comply with pricing guidelines, margin expectations and approval processes.
Technical support
You will provide pre-sales technical support to Sales teams and Sector Managers throughout the quotation process.
You will recommend technical solutions based on customer applications, process requirements and operating conditions.
You will prepare technical bid documentation, compliance statements and product submissions.
You will support customer discussions, both virtually and onsite where required, to clarify technical requirements and project scope.
Project scoping and risk assessment
You will review customer requirements to establish project scope, assumptions and exclusions.
You will assess technical, commercial and operational risks that may impact project delivery.
You will highlight significant risks and recommend appropriate mitigation or escalation where required.
Cross-functional collaboration
You will collaborate with Supply Chain, Procurement, Sales Support and local assembly teams to establish realistic manufacturing and delivery timelines.
You will work with Product Specialists and Engineering teams on customised or non-standard solutions.
You will serve as the primary liaison with our parent manufacturing factories for technical enquiries, product selection and quotation support.
Documentation and process management
You will ensure quotations comply with internal procedures, document control requirements and ISO 9001 quality standards.
You will maintain quotation records, pricing information and standard quotation templates.
You will monitor quotation progress, conversion rates and win/loss trends to support business reporting and continuous improvement.
You will contribute to improving quotation processes, templates, tools and costing methodologies.
Project handover
You will prepare complete project handover documentation for confirmed orders, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), configurations, drawings, schedules and commercial information.
You will work with internal stakeholders to support a smooth transition from quotation to order fulfilment and project execution.
Continuous improvement
You will contribute to process improvement initiatives and support cross-functional projects as required.
Who you’ll be working with
Internal stakeholders
You will work closely with Sales teams and Sector Managers to develop technical and commercially competitive proposals.
You will collaborate with fellow Application Engineers within the regional Project Quotation Team.
You will partner with Supply Chain, Procurement, Sales Support, Product Specialists and local assembly teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
You will liaise with our parent manufacturing factories on technical solutions, pricing and delivery commitments.
External stakeholders
You will communicate with customers to clarify technical requirements, specifications and project scope throughout the quotation process.
Skills & Experience
- 3-5 years of experience preparing technical quotations, tenders or engineered proposals.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, datasheets and customer specifications.
- Sound understanding of mechanical or process engineering principles, including flow, pressure, materials and equipment selection.
- Experience with engineered equipment, rotating machinery, pumps, process systems or instrumentation will be an advantage.
- Experience using ERP, CRM or quotation management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Maintain and manage databases related to quotations, orders, and project activities to ensure data accuracy and accessibility.
- Support vendor development activities for customized products such as SS trolleys, VFDs, motor covers, and other customer-specific requirements.
- Calculate and analyse order margins during both pre-order and post-order stages to support commercial decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Drive automation initiatives using AI and digital tools to streamline existing processes, improve efficiency, and enhance overall productivity.
- Identify process gaps, analyse information, and proactively provide solutions to improve operational effectiveness and customer responsiveness.
Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline is preferred. Equivalent practical experience in technical quotation, application engineering or project engineering will also be considered.
- Communication
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly with customers and internal stakeholders.
