About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and engaging French Facilitator who can introduce students to the French language and culture through interactive, age-appropriate, and experiential learning.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with young learners and creating a positive environment where students develop confidence in listening, speaking, reading, and basic writing in French.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate engaging French language sessions for students across assigned age groups.
- Develop age-appropriate activities, games, stories, songs, conversations, and experiences to make French learning enjoyable.
- Build students’ vocabulary, pronunciation, listening, and conversational skills.
- Integrate French culture, traditions, food, music, art, and everyday life into learning experiences.
- Plan and prepare lesson resources and classroom activities.
- Encourage students to use French naturally during classroom interactions.
- Observe and document student progress and provide appropriate feedback.
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers and the PYP team to connect French learning with broader units and themes where relevant.
- Participate in school events, celebrations, exhibitions, and other learning experiences.
- Maintain a warm, inclusive, and child-centred classroom environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in French, Foreign Languages, Education, or a related field.
- Strong spoken and written French proficiency.
- Prior experience teaching/facilitating French, preferably with young learners.
- Good English communication skills.
- Strong classroom engagement and communication skills.
- Creative approach to language teaching.
- Ability to use activity-based and experiential teaching methods.
Preferred
- DELF/DALF certification or equivalent French-language qualification.
- Experience in an IB/PYP or international school.
- Familiarity with inquiry-based and concept-driven learning.
- Experience working with children aged 3–10 years.
- Ability to incorporate music, stories, movement, art, and play into language learning.
What We’re Looking For
Someone who is warm, energetic, creative, and genuinely enjoys working with children—not just someone who can teach French grammar. The facilitator should be able to make French a language that children enjoy using and experiencing, rather than simply studying.
