Position Title

Junior Embryologist

Department

Embryology / IVF Laboratory

Reporting To

Senior Embryologist / IVF Lab Director / Medical Director

Job Summary

The Junior Embryologist assists in the day-to-day operations of the IVF laboratory, ensuring adherence to quality standards, laboratory protocols, and patient safety requirements. The role supports embryo culture, gamete handling, cryopreservation activities, laboratory maintenance, and documentation under the supervision of senior embryologists.

Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Procedures

Assist in semen analysis and sperm preparation procedures.
Support oocyte identification, washing, and handling.
Assist in conventional IVF and ICSI procedures under supervision.
Monitor embryo culture and development.
Assist in embryo grading and documentation.
Support embryo transfer preparation activities.
Participate in embryo, sperm, and oocyte cryopreservation and thawing procedures.
Ensure proper labeling and traceability of all specimens.

Quality Management

Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality protocols.
Maintain laboratory records and documentation accurately.
Monitor laboratory equipment performance and calibration schedules.
Perform daily quality control checks and record findings.
Ensure compliance with NABH, ART Act, and clinic policies.

Laboratory Maintenance

Maintain cleanliness and sterility of laboratory work areas.
Monitor incubators, gas supplies, temperature logs, and humidity records.
Assist in inventory management and stock monitoring.
Report equipment malfunctions or deviations immediately.

Patient & Clinical Coordination

Coordinate with fertility consultants, nurses, and counselors regarding treatment schedules.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory results.
Assist in preparation of reports and laboratory records.

Safety & Compliance

Follow infection control and biomedical waste management protocols.
Adhere to laboratory safety regulations and universal precautions.
Participate in internal audits and quality improvement activities.

Required Qualifications

M.Sc. in Clinical Embryology / Reproductive Biology / Biotechnology / Life Sciences.
Certificate or training in Clinical Embryology from a recognized institution preferred.
Registration as per applicable ART regulations (if required).

Experience

0–2 years of experience in an IVF laboratory.
Freshers with certified embryology training may apply.

Skills Required

Knowledge of IVF laboratory procedures.
Understanding of ART and fertility treatment processes.
Good laboratory handling skills and attention to detail.
Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities.
Basic computer proficiency (MS Office, EMR systems).
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in a sterile and controlled laboratory environment.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Accuracy of laboratory documentation.
Compliance with SOPs and quality standards.
Specimen identification and traceability accuracy.
Laboratory quality control completion rate.
Equipment monitoring compliance.
Timely completion of assigned laboratory procedures.

Working Conditions

Rotational shifts as per IVF procedure schedules.
Weekend and holiday duties during IVF cycles when required.
Work in a controlled laboratory environment following aseptic techniques.

Salary Range

As per qualifications, experience, and organizational policy.

Pay: From ₹16,000.00 per month
