Job Description AML Fraud Intake Senior - QC Analyst (Grade 10)
The AML Fraud Intake Senior - QC Analyst is a member of the AML Investigations – Intake and Triage team, responsible for conducting quality control reviews of AML alert intake decisions, documentation, and escalation outcomes to ensure accuracy, consistency, timeliness, and adherence to internal procedures and regulatory requirements. In addition, this role reviews AML transaction alerts to identify potentially unusual activity, determine appropriate next steps, and support effective intake, research, including the use of open-source intelligence, negative news and media research, and public-record research, documentation, and escalation processes.
This position requires strong experience in BSA/AML, quality review, transaction analysis, and case documentation. The senior QC analyst is responsible for reviewing completed alert dispositions, validating the adequacy of research performed, assessing the quality of written narratives and decision rationale, and identifying defects, control gaps, or inconsistent application of procedures. The role also requires sound judgment, strong attention to detail, the ability to communicate feedback constructively, and the capability to identify trends and recommend process improvements in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:

Perform quality control reviews of AML and Fraud alert intake work to assess the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness of analyst decisions and documentation.

Validate that appropriate research was completed, relevant risk indicators were considered, and alert dispositions were supported by sufficient facts and sound rationale.

Review written documentation for clarity, accuracy, and adherence to internal standards, procedures, and regulatory expectations.

Identify quality defects, procedural inconsistencies, missed red flags, and control gaps, and escalate material concerns to leadership or business partners as appropriate.

Provide clear, actionable written and verbal feedback to analysts to improve documentation quality, decision consistency, and overall performance.

Partner with frontline analysts, investigators, training, and leadership teams to support remediation efforts, clarify expectations, and reinforce quality standards.

Review AML and Fraud transaction alerts in designated monitoring systems and complete intake analysis in accordance with established procedures and service level expectations.

Research customer and transactional activity using internal systems, open-source intelligence, negative news and media research, and public-record resources to identify red flags, unusual patterns, reputational concerns, and indicators of potentially unusual behavior.

Document alert reviews thoroughly, clearly, and accurately, including the rationale for closure, referral, or escalation.

Determine whether alerts should be closed or referred to AML or Fraud Investigations for additional review based on facts gathered and applicable guidance.
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience

Typically, 3+ years of experience in BSA/AML, financial crimes, quality control, investigations, risk management, or a related environment
Preferred Skills/Experience:

Strong knowledge of AML/BSA, unusual activity indicators, and related regulatory expectations

Demonstrated experience performing quality control, quality assurance, case review, or audit-related functions within AML, fraud, or financial crimes operations

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify control gaps, risk trends, and inconsistent decisioning

Excellent written documentation skills, including the ability to assess and improve alert narratives and support defensible decisions

Ability to deliver clear, constructive feedback and influence positive performance and quality outcomes across teams

Experience with transaction monitoring, case management, or alert review systems such as Actimize, Guardian, Hogan, Web KYC, OmniKYC, or similar tools

Experience conducting research using open-source intelligence, negative news and media sources, and public-record resources to support alert analysis, risk identification, and investigative decision-making

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Working knowledge of financial institution products, services, and customer activity risk indicators

Applicable professional certifications preferred, such as CAMS, CFE, or CFCS
