Position Title: Assistant Brewer
Department: Brewing Operations
Location: Flow/ Saket
Reports To: Head Brewer / Brewmaster
Job Summary:
The Assistant Brewer will support the brewing team in all aspects of beer production, cellar operations, quality control, cleaning, packaging, and inventory management. The role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to hygiene and safety standards, physical stamina, and a passion for craft beer and brewing processes.
The ideal candidate should be eager to learn, capable of working in a fast-paced brewery environment, and committed to maintaining consistency and quality in all brewing operations.
Key Responsibilities:Brewing Operations
- Assist in wort production, mashing, lautering, boiling, fermentation, and conditioning processes.
- Support the Head Brewer in recipe execution and brewing schedules.
- Monitor brewing parameters including temperature, gravity, pH, and fermentation activity.
- Handle raw materials including malt, hops, yeast, and adjuncts.
- Ensure accurate measurements and brewing records are maintained.
Cellar & Fermentation Management
- Assist in yeast handling, pitching, harvesting, and storage.
- Monitor fermentation tanks and report irregularities.
- Perform beer transfers, carbonation, filtration, and clarification activities.
- Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of tanks, pipelines, and brewing equipment.
Cleaning & Sanitation
- Execute CIP (Clean-In-Place) and sanitation procedures for brewing and cellar equipment.
- Maintain high hygiene standards as per food & beverage safety guidelines.
- Ensure brewing area, storage areas, and equipment remain clean and organized at all times.
Packaging & Inventory
- Assist in kegging, canning, bottling, and packaging operations as applicable.
- Monitor stock levels of brewing ingredients and consumables.
- Support inventory management and inward/outward material tracking.
Quality Control
- Support quality checks for beer consistency, taste, aroma, appearance, and carbonation.
- Follow SOPs and quality standards during all brewing processes.
- Report any deviations, contamination risks, or equipment issues immediately.
Equipment Maintenance
- Assist in routine maintenance and troubleshooting of brewing equipment.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure safe operation of pumps, chillers, compressors, and brewing systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Diploma / Degree in Brewing, Fermentation Technology, Food Technology, Biotechnology, or related field preferred.
- Prior experience in a brewery, microbrewery, or beverage production unit is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of brewing science and fermentation processes.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays if required.
- Physically fit to lift heavy materials and work in a production environment.
- Strong attention to detail and hygiene standards.
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
