Job Purpose

The Department of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Indraprastha Institute of
Information Technology (IIIT Delhi) is looking to hire TWO Part Time Teaching
Fellows.

Qualifications

TF Position-1 (Sociology)

A Master's degree (First Class) in Sociology, Anthropology, Gender Studies, Human

Geography, Development Studies, Political Science, Media Studies, or a related social

science discipline.

Strong academic performance in research methods courses.

Demonstrated knowledge of qualitative research methodologies, including:

Ethnography | Action Research|Case Study

Observation|Interviews|Focus Group Discussions

Narrative and discourse analysis|Thematic analysis

Familiarity with research design, sampling strategies, ethics, informed consent, and

reflexivity. Familiarity with citation tools like medeley, Google scholar and Zotero.

Experience conducting independent qualitative research (Master's dissertation,

M.Phil., PhD, research projects, etc.).

Strong written and oral communication ability.

TF Position-2 (Quantitative Methods/Psychometry/Psychology)

A Master's degree (first class) in Psychology, Psychometry/ Statistics, Public Health,

or a related discipline. Demonstrated expertise in quantitative research methods or
psychometrics, evidenced through academic coursework, research, or professional

work.

Prior experience teaching, tutoring, or assisting in graduate-level programmes

Familiarity with statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, Stata, or Python)
Experience with psychometric tools, scale development and testing
Ability to communicate technical material clearly to interdisciplinary

audiences

Duties and responsibilities

Teach in tutorials, managing the tutorials and other Tutors/Teaching

Assistants.

Conduct extra classes on the topics where students are facing difficulties.
Conduct regular lectures, when the instructor is on leave.

Maintaining Office Hours to clarify course related doubts, out of class hours,

tutorials etc.

Assist Course Faculty in making learning materials, assignments, answer

keys and rubric for grading.

Assist the Course Faculty in preparing exam question papers, conducting

Quizzes, mid semester Exam, Final Exams.

Assist the Course Faculty in grading, taking attendance, distributing and

preparing classroom material, setting up technical equipment, and attending
to any other needs of the course.

Mentor and guide students in class-course projects. Assigning the rubric and

grading the progress throughout the semester.

Provide extra support to weak students.
Participate in the activities of the Department.

Compensation & Terms

The term of appointment will be for four months for Monsoon Semester 2023.

For Part Time TF Position: The monthly compensation to the candidate with

Master’s degree may be offered a salary Rs. 27,500 per month without hostel

accommodation.

The Institute gives top priority to the ongoing academic activities and does not

promote leaving the offered position during an ongoing semester. To ensure this, a

monthly deposit of Rs. 27,500/- for full time TF and Rs. 13750/- for Part Time TF

from the salary of the first two months will be kept with the institute. This deposit

will be paid on completion of the offered tenure.
