Job Description – Quality Control (QC) Executive

Company: K-Board Decorative Laminates Pvt. Ltd.
Department: Quality Control (QC)
Location: Erode, Tamil Nadu
Reporting To: Quality Manager / Plant Head

Job Summary

The Quality Control (QC) Executive is responsible for ensuring that all decorative laminate products meet the company's quality standards and customer specifications. The role involves inspection of raw materials, monitoring production processes, conducting laboratory testing, identifying defects, maintaining quality records, and coordinating with Production and Maintenance teams to achieve consistent product quality.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect incoming raw materials such as kraft paper, decorative paper, overlay paper, resin, chemicals, and other consumables.
Monitor all stages of laminate manufacturing, including resin preparation, impregnation, drying, pressing, trimming, sanding, and finishing.
Conduct in-process inspections and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Perform quality tests on finished laminates, including:
Thickness measurement
Surface finish inspection
Gloss level
Scratch resistance
Abrasion resistance
Heat resistance
Impact resistance
Dimensional stability
Boiling water resistance
Colour consistency
Identify product defects such as bubbles, delamination, cracks, pinholes, stains, colour variation, edge defects, warping, and surface imperfections.
Record inspection results and maintain quality reports, test records, and production documentation.
Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) and coordinate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Assist in root cause analysis for quality complaints and implement preventive measures.
Ensure calibration and proper maintenance of quality testing instruments.
Support internal audits, customer audits, and ISO quality management system activities.
Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Stores, and Dispatch departments to resolve quality issues.
Maintain housekeeping and follow all safety procedures within the QC laboratory and production area.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce rejection, rework, and customer complaints.

Required Qualifications

Diploma / B.Sc. / B.Tech in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Wood Technology, or a related field.
2–5 years of experience in Quality Control, preferably in Decorative Laminates, Plywood, MDF, Particle Board, or Building Materials manufacturing.

Required Skills

Knowledge of decorative laminate manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with quality testing equipment and inspection techniques.
Understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
Ability to read technical specifications and quality standards.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good documentation and reporting skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
