We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Housekeeping Supervisor to oversee all housekeeping operations in a NABH-accredited multispecialty hospital. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, infection prevention and patient safety while leading a team of housekeeping staff. The candidate should possess strong leadership skills, sound knowledge of hospital cleaning protocols, NABH standards, biomedical waste management and quality assurance practices.
Key Responsibilities1. Housekeeping Operations
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day housekeeping activities across the entire hospital.
- Ensure complete cleanliness of all patient care areas, OPD, IPD, ICU, OT, emergency, laboratories, radiology, pharmacy, administrative offices, waiting areas, public areas, washrooms, cafeterias, corridors, staircases and external premises.
- Ensure all areas are maintained according to NABH standards and hospital infection control policies.
- Conduct routine inspections and audits to ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are consistently achieved.
- Monitor deep cleaning schedules and terminal cleaning procedures.
2. Team Management
- Supervise, motivate, and manage housekeeping attendants and janitorial staff.
- Prepare duty rosters, shift schedules, weekly offs, and manpower deployment.
- Ensure adequate staffing for all shifts.
- Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, grooming, discipline, and productivity.
- Conduct daily briefings and allocate work responsibilities.
- Train new employees on housekeeping SOPs, safety, and quality standards.
- Evaluate staff performance and recommend corrective actions where required.
3. NABH & Quality Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with NABH accreditation standards related to housekeeping services.
- Maintain housekeeping documentation, logs, and records required during NABH audits.
- Participate in internal audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all SOPs are implemented effectively.
- Coordinate with Quality, Infection Control, Nursing, and Maintenance departments.
4. Infection Prevention & Control
- Ensure proper cleaning and disinfection protocols are followed.
- Monitor correct usage of disinfectants and cleaning chemicals.
- Ensure adherence to infection control guidelines.
- Supervise isolation room cleaning procedures.
- Ensure proper segregation and handling of biomedical waste as per hospital policy.
- Coordinate with the Infection Control Committee for implementation of best practices.
5. Inventory & Material Management
- Monitor stock levels of housekeeping materials, chemicals, consumables, linen supplies, and equipment.
- Raise purchase requisitions as required.
- Ensure proper storage and usage of cleaning materials.
- Prevent wastage and maintain cost control.
- Maintain inventory records and consumption reports.
6. Equipment Management
- Ensure proper maintenance and safe operation of housekeeping machines and equipment.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure all cleaning equipment is functional and calibrated where applicable.
7. Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with hospital safety protocols.
- Enforce PPE usage by housekeeping staff.
- Monitor chemical handling and storage practices.
- Report hazards, accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Participate in fire drills, disaster management, and emergency preparedness activities.
8. Documentation
Maintain records including:
- Daily cleaning checklists
- Area inspection reports
- Deep cleaning schedules
- Staff attendance and duty rosters
- Training records
- Chemical consumption records
- Equipment maintenance logs
- Biomedical waste monitoring records
- NABH audit documentation
- Corrective and preventive action (CAPA) records
9. Coordination
- Work closely with Nursing, Administration, Engineering, Infection Control, HR, and Quality departments.
- Coordinate cleaning activities during patient discharge, admissions, surgeries, and emergency situations.
- Address housekeeping-related complaints promptly and ensure timely resolution.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate in any discipline.
- Diploma/Certification in Housekeeping, Hotel Management, Hospital Housekeeping, or Facility Management preferred.
- Certification in Infection Control or Hospital Housekeeping is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of housekeeping experience in a multispecialty hospital.
- At least 2–3 years of experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor in a NABH-accredited hospital.
- Hands-on experience in hospital housekeeping operations, infection control, and quality management.

- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Flexible to work in rotational shifts, weekends, and emergencies.
