The Apps Support Sr Analyst is a seasoned professional role. Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and work-flow for the area or function. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams. Involved in coaching and training of new recruits. Significant impact in terms of project size, geography, etc. by influencing decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual.
Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day production support for Commodities trading platforms and associated downstream applications.
- Partner directly with Traders, Risk, Middle Office, Operations, and Technology teams to ensure stability of business-critical applications.
- Support all aspects of the Commodities trade lifecycle, including trade capture, pricing, execution, risk calculations, PnL reporting, and regulatory reporting.
- Monitor application health through start-of-day checks, continuous monitoring, intraday support, and regional handovers.
- Support critical EOD and intraday risk batch processing and ensure timely delivery of risk outputs to trading desks and downstream consumers.
- Drive incident resolution, root cause analysis, problem management, and permanent remediation activities.
- Manage production incidents across OpenLink Endur, Risk platforms, Market Data systems, and integration services.
- Participate in application releases, infrastructure upgrades, disaster recovery testing, and post-implementation validation activities.
- Act as a liaison between Traders, Business Users, Development, Infrastructure, and Vendor teams.
- Drive stability, automation, and operational excellence initiatives to improve platform resiliency and reduce manual effort.
- Develop and maintain support documentation, operational procedures, runbooks, and knowledge articles.
- Ensure adherence to SLA commitments and provide timely communication during production incidents.
- Participate in rotational weekend support, bank holiday coverage, and on-call support arrangements for critical business processes.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to junior analysts.
- Assess operational and business risk appropriately and escalate issues in line with Citi controls and governance requirements.
Required Experience & Skills:
- 6+ years of hands-on Application Support experience within Investment Banking, Capital Markets, or Commodities environments.
- Strong Front Office production support experience working directly with Traders and business stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Commodities markets and products, including Oil, Gas, Power, Metals, and Agricultural products.
- Experience supporting OpenLink Endur (ETRM) or similar Commodities trading and risk management platforms.
- Strong understanding of:
- Trade Lifecycle Processing
- Risk Management
- Profit & Loss (PnL)
- Market Data Flows
- Trade Booking and Execution Processes
- Strong SQL skills with Oracle and/or SQL Server.
- Experience supporting Linux/Unix environments.
- Working knowledge of Python, Shell Scripting, and automation tooling.
- Experience with monitoring platforms such as Geneos, Splunk, Grafana, AppDynamics, or equivalent.
- Experience supporting Autosys or equivalent enterprise scheduling solutions.
- Experience with ServiceNow, JIRA, and ITIL-based support processes.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a high-pressure Front Office trading environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- Exposure to electronic trading platforms.
- Experience with messaging technologies such as Solace, Kafka, or TIBCO EMS.
- Exposure to cloud technologies and DevOps / CI-CD practices.
- Experience supporting global trading desks across multiple regions.
- Experience driving automation, stability, and operational excellence initiatives.
