Concept Artist

The Concept Artist works as part of a team executing CG and traditional artwork, helping to create artwork that adheres to a specific design or “look” of a show.

Main responsibilities

Exceptional drawing skills in both traditional and digital formats
Experience creating some or all of the following: environments, hard surface, creature and character design and matte paintings.
Have a strong background in traditional art skills and demonstrate an understanding of fundamentals like three-dimensional space, composition, perspective, proportion, scale, value, depth and colour theory
Ensure work is done according to specifications outlined by the Director / Creative team of a show
Ability to assemble research and reference material that will be influential to clients and design team
The ability to work both independently and within a production environment.
Demonstration of strong artistic interpretation skills are also required.
Assist with project clean up and archiving on an ongoing basis

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and significant experience in producing concept art for VFX / Feature films and games.

Proficiency in design software like Photoshop/ sketchup is required.
Experience or knowledge of story boarding, cinematic techniques, language and shot composition.
Portfolio of professional and personal work is a must.

Brownie Points

Knowledge of softwares like Zbrush, Unreal and Modo is a plus.
Demonstrated understanding and creation of photo real work
