Role Overview
We are looking for a Junior Geospatial Data Engineer to support our drone mapping and GIS teams. This is a full-time, in-person role based at our Shaikpet office, Hyderabad (500008). The selected candidate will work under the guidance of the Lead Geospatial Data Engineer and must strictly follow technical instructions, project workflows, and quality standards defined by the lead.
This role is ideal for candidates who want hands-on exposure to drone data processing, LiDAR datasets, Photogrammetry, GIS analysis, and survey deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of the Lead Geospatial Data Engineer and execute assigned tasks accurately.
- Follow defined coordinate systems, projections, and UTM zone standards (especially UTM Zone 44N)
- Assist in processing drone datasets using Pix4D, DJI Terra, QGIS, Global Mapper, Agisoft Metashape or similar photogrammetry software
- Support spatial data analysis using ArcGIS, QGIS, and AutoCAD.
- Generate 2D and basic 3D survey outputs such as orthomosaics, DSM, DTM, contours, and shapefiles.
- Perform data cleaning, digitization, and attribute management.
- Assist in basic raster and vector analysis tasks.
- Support field teams during survey projects when required.
- Maintain organized data storage and follow company documentation standards.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned GIS tasks as per project deadlines.
Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Civil Engineering, Geography, Geomatics, or related field.
- 0–2 years of experience in GIS or drone data processing (freshers with strong technical knowledge may apply).
- Basic understanding of coordinate reference systems and projections.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, ArcGIS, QGIS, Global Mapper, Agisoft Metashape.
- Familiarity with drone mapping workflows is an advantage.
- Ability to document and write Survey/Project Reports for delivery.
Preferred Skills
- Basic knowledge of Pix4D or DJI Terra, QGIS, Global Mapper, Agisoft Metashape.
- Understanding of DEM, DSM, contours, and orthomosaic generation.
- Introductory knowledge of Python for GIS automation.
- Basic awareness of LiDAR concepts.
- Interest in Web GIS or mapping tools (Leaflet, Mapbox, Google Maps APIs is a plus).
- Willingness to learn drone flight planning and UAV data workflows.
- Strong discipline in following technical instructions and workflow standards.
Selection Process
- Shortlisted candidates will receive a GIS Task Assignment to be completed within 2–4 days.
Sample Task Structure
- Task 1: Administrative Mapping
Reproject India’s state shapefile to UTM Zone 44N and create a choropleth map.
- Task 2: Buffer & Spatial Analysis
Generate area buffers and clip with AOI boundaries.
Generate slope and contours from DEM and identify areas with slope greater than 15 degrees.
- Task 4: Basic UAV Data Processing
Process orthomosaic data, digitize basic features, and perform simple NDVI classification.
- Task 5: Survey/Project Report
Prepare a detailed Survey / Project Report based on the outputs generated in Task 3 (Raster Analysis) and Task 4 (UAV/Drone Data Processing).
The report must clearly document:
- Project objective and scope
- Data sources used (DEM, UAV orthomosaic, etc.)
- Software and tools used
- Step-by-step methodology followed
- Analysis results (Slope, Contours, NDVI, Digitized Features, etc.)
- Maps, screenshots, and visual outputs supporting the findings
- Observations and technical conclusions
Submission Format:
- The report must be prepared in professional format and submitted as a PDF (.pdf) file.
- Include relevant maps, tables, screenshots, and visual evidence to support your analysis.
- Ensure the report is structured, technically clear, and properly formatted.
Submission Guidelines
- Submit Shapefiles / GeoPackage files
