Scrub Assisting
Assists in the performance of any surgical procedure, working under the surgeon's direction.
Acts as a first or second assistant to the surgeon in the following capacities:
Scrubs for operative procedures
Assists in moving and positioning the patient for surgery.
Assists the surgeon in draping of the patient
Assists to retract tissue and exposes operating field area during operative procedures
Assists to clamp and ties blood vessels to control bleeding during surgical entry.
Keeps the operative area dry
Affords the surgeon the best possible exposure of the anatomy incident to the operation.
Should have knowledge in all surgical procedures sufficient to assist the surgeon in any way.
Knows all the instruments used in any procedure
Performs any all tasks required by the surgeon incident to the particular surgical procedure.
Ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon, and other team members, with respect to the requirements of a particular surgical procedure.
Supports the surgeon during the surgical procedure by providing instrumentation and assistance as well as being responsible for utilizing the surgical coordination process.
CSSD
Monitor the central service Technician for the preparation, distribution and control of sterile supplies, non-sterile supplies and equipment used in all areas to the hospitals that render patient care.
Disperses the right supply/ equipment in the right amount, in the right condition at the right time.
Perform a variety of complex manual duties in preparing patients for surgery, setting up operating rooms and arranging, calibrating, and adjusting complex equipment before and during surgery; cleaning assigned areas and equipment; assisting surgeons, anesthetists and nursing personnel as directed.
Prepare the operating room by selecting and opening sterile supplies. Preoperative duties also include assembling, adjusting, and checking non-sterile equipment to ensure that it is in proper working order. Common duties include operating sterilizers, lights, suction machines, electro-surgical units, and diagnostic equipments.
Primary responsibility for maintaining the sterile field, being constantly vigilant that all members of the team adhere to aseptic technique.
Function as a sterile member of the surgical team who passes instruments, sutures, and sponges during surgery. After scrubbing they don gown and gloves and prepare the sterile setup for the appropriate procedure. After other members of the sterile team have scrubbed, they assist them with gowning and gloving and with the application of sterile drapes that isolate the operative site.
Coordinate supervise and participate in sterile processing activities related to the establishing of and compliance with policies, standards and procedures for the decontamination, sterilization, storage and distribution of medical and surgical supplies and equipment to ensure compliance with patient care needs and regulatory agencies standards.
Stock and Supplies
Ensure adequate stock of supplies and material in the OT. Assess supply and equipment needs
Establish standard supply levels, supervise issuance of supplies.
Provide for storage of unit supplies and equipment and assure compliance with regulations concerning narcotics.
Arrange for emergency supplies and medications if not available on the unit after hours.
Patient Care
Provide staffing in postoperative recovery rooms where patients responses are carefully monitored in the critical phases following general anesthesia.
Must also effectively interact with other disciplines to coordinate the patient's care while in the operating room
Co-ordination
Maintain a working relationship with all members of the operating room team and adjunct hospital personnel based on trust, honesty, confidence and respect.
Monitors operation schedules and adjusts rooms and staff to ensure operating room time is utilized to maximum efficiency.

Essential Minimum Requirements (to those characteristics considered absolutely necessary)
Experience, Education and Formal Training
Minimum 2 years of work experience in OT operations or an associate degree, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
