Purpose of the Role
The Storyteller and Librarian is responsible for creating a vibrant reading culture within the school by managing the library effectively and engaging students through storytelling, literacy programs, reading activities, and inquiry-based learning experiences. The role aims to foster imagination, communication skills, research abilities, and a lifelong love for reading among students.
Key ResponsibilitiesLibrary Management
- Maintain and organize the school library resources, including books, digital resources, magazines, and journals.
- Ensure proper cataloguing, classification, issuing, and return of books.
- Maintain updated library records and inventory.
- Recommend and procure age-appropriate books and learning resources aligned with the curriculum.
- Create an inviting, student-friendly, and literacy-rich library environment.
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of library resources and reading spaces.
Storytelling and Literacy Development
- Conduct engaging storytelling sessions for students across grade levels.
- Use creative techniques such as voice modulation, dramatization, puppetry, visual aids, and interactive discussions during storytelling sessions.
- Promote reading habits and literary appreciation among students.
- Organize reading weeks, author studies, book fairs, read-aloud sessions, and literacy events.
- Develop programs that encourage independent reading and inquiry-based learning.
- Support students in selecting books according to their age, interest, and reading level.
Curriculum Support
- Collaborate with teachers to support classroom learning through library resources and reading materials.
- Assist students in research projects and information literacy skills.
- Curate thematic book displays connected to classroom units and global themes.
- Support language development, comprehension, vocabulary building, and communication skills through literature.
Student Engagement and Wellbeing
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and welcoming library culture.
- Encourage creativity, imagination, empathy, and intercultural understanding through stories and literature.
- Support differentiated learning needs by recommending suitable reading materials.
- Build positive relationships with students and encourage responsible library usage.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Prepare library usage reports and maintain circulation data.
- Manage library schedules and class visits.
- Coordinate with vendors and publishers for procurement of books and resources.
- Ensure adherence to school policies regarding library usage and resource management.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science, English, Education, or related field
- Certification/Diploma in Library Science preferred
- Experience in storytelling, literacy programs, or school library management preferred
Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a school library or literacy-focused role preferred.
- Experience in international curriculum schools (CBSE/Cambridge/IB) is an added advantage.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
