Designation - Sr. Product Engineer - CFD/Thermal Eng.

Experience - 6 - 8 years

Department - Manufacturing

Location - Trivandrum, Kerala

Job Responsibilities:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Product Engineer (CFDThermal Engineer) with strong expertise in thermal modelling, simulation, and validation of electric motors and motor controllers. The role involves close collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and testing teams to develop robust thermal management solutions that ensure system reliability and performance under varied operating conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform steady-state and transient thermal simulations for electric motors and motor controllers across multiple duty cycles and operating conditions.
Evaluate temperature distribution, heat dissipation paths, and thermal limits to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Design and recommend air-cooled and liquid-cooled thermal management solutions for motors and controllers.
Support mechanical and electrical design teams in: ○ Cooling system architecture selection ○ Heat sink design and optimization ○ Thermal Interface Material (TIM) selection
Conduct CFD-based simulations using ANSYS Fluent and ANSYS Icepak for component-level and system-level analysis.
Correlate simulation results with experimental test data (thermocouples, IR measurements) and refine models to match test conditions.
Prepare and execute thermal test plans, including motor testing with integrated cooling systems.
Document simulation methodologies, assumptions, results, and thermal design recommendations in detailed technical reports.
Contribute to design reviews, DFMEA activities, and continuous improvement of thermal simulation workflows.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices in thermal simulation and validation.

Technical Skills & Expertise:

Strong fundamentals in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
In-depth understanding of electric motor construction, losses (copper, iron, windage), and operating principles.
Proven ability to provide thermal design recommendations for electric motor and controller thermal management.
Hands-on experience with:

○ ANSYS Fluent

○ ANSYS Icepak

Experience in conjugate heat transfer (CHT) analysis.
Knowledge of cooling technologies such as forced convection, liquid cooling jackets, heat pipes, and cold plates.
Familiarity with thermal testing techniques, sensor placement, and data correlation.
Exposure to EV, e-mobility, automotive, or industrial motor applications is highly desirable.

Desired Qualifications:

M.Tech / MS in Thermal Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a closely related field.
Research, thesis, or project work related to thermal simulation, CFD, or electric machines is a strong advantage.
Experience working in product development environments with cross-functional teams.

Pay: ₹1,200,000.00 - ₹1,500,000.00 per year
