Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager – Import & Export to manage and oversee all international trade operations, including sourcing of raw materials, export of finished furniture products, and compliance with global trade regulations. The candidate will ensure cost efficiency, timely deliveries, and smooth coordination with international vendors and clients.
Key Responsibilities1. Import Management
- Handle end-to-end import process for raw materials (wood, fabric, leather, hardware, fittings, etc.)
- Vendor coordination with international suppliers
- Manage purchase orders, shipping schedules, and documentation
- Monitor shipment status and ensure timely delivery
2. Export Operations
- Manage export of finished furniture products to international markets
- Coordinate with sales, production, and logistics teams for order execution
- Ensure timely dispatch and delivery to customers
- Handle export documentation (Invoice, Packing List, BL, COO, etc.)
3. Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and DGFT policies
- Manage IEC, HS codes, duty structures, and tariff classifications
- Handle audits and regulatory requirements
- Liaise with customs agents, freight forwarders, and CHA
4. Logistics & Freight Management
- Negotiate freight rates with shipping lines and logistics providers
- Optimize shipping costs and transit time
- Manage container planning, consolidation, and dispatch
- Monitor port operations and clearance activities
5. Cost Control & Budgeting
- Control import/export costs including freight, duties, and handling charges
- Develop cost-saving strategies and vendor negotiations
- Prepare MIS reports for management review
6. Vendor & Client Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with international suppliers and buyers
- Evaluate vendor performance and service quality
- Resolve disputes related to shipments, quality, or delays
7. Team Management
- Lead and mentor import-export team
- Assign responsibilities and monitor performance
- Ensure process improvement and efficiency
8. Risk Management
- Identify risks related to international trade (delays, compliance issues, currency fluctuations)
- Develop contingency plans
- Ensure insurance coverage for shipments
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of international trade regulations
- Expertise in import-export documentation
- Good understanding of furniture materials and supply chain
- Negotiation and vendor management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Leadership and team handling experience
- Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Excel
Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain / International Business / Commerce
- Master’s degree (MBA – International Business / Logistics) preferred
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in Import & Export operations
- Minimum 2 years in a leadership role
- Experience in furniture / interior / manufacturing industry preferred
