We are looking for an experienced and technically grounded Engineering Manager to lead our Kolkata-based cross-functional team. This is a critical leadership role that sits at the intersection of engineering and product delivery. You will be responsible for guiding a team of engineers, a Product Owner, and a UX Designer —driving feature development, platform scaling, and greenfield initiatives while maintaining a strong partnership with our US-based leadership and product teams.
Work Model / Office Presence
- This is a leadership role requiring in-office presence in Kolkata 4 days a week.
- Candidates should be comfortable leading teams through direct, in-person collaboration and cross-functional engagement.
- Friday may be treated as a flexible/remote workday based on business needs and leadership alignment.
This role requires someone who leads by example technically, inspires through mentorship, and brings structured program management discipline to a fast-moving, mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and People Management
- Lead, manage, and grow a team of engineers, a Product Owner, and a UX Designer
- Establish a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and self sufficiency
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development conversations
- Actively mentor engineers at all levels, helping them grow into senior and lead roles
Technical Leadership and Architecture
- Provide architectural guidance on AWS-based cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, andsecurity
- Actively participate in technical design reviews, code reviews, and system design discussions
- Drive adoption of engineering best practices across our technology ecosystem
- Ensure solutions are built with industry best practices and adopted patterns
Program Management and Delivery
- Own end-to-end delivery of engineering initiatives — from planning and estimation through to release
- Run Agile/Scrum ceremonies: sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives, and standups
- Track velocity, manage dependencies, and remove blockers proactively
- Balance the roadmap across feature development, platform maintenance, and new greenfield work
- Maintain clear, transparent reporting of progress and risks to leadership
Cross-functional and US Collaboration
- Serve as the primary engineering liaison between the India team and leadership team in US
- Maintain a minimum of 3 hours of daily overlap with US Central Time, with flexibility to extend as needed for critical discussions or releases
- Communicate project status, technical trade-offs, and team capacity with clarity and confidence
Security and Engineering Quality
- Own the security posture of the India team's engineering output — embedding secure development practices across the SDLC
- Drive security code reviews, and vulnerability remediation as a standard part of delivery
- Help set security standards, access controls, and data protection practices for a healthcare platform
- Champion security-first architecture
- Promote a culture of quality through test automation, code standards, and rigorous peer review
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of overall software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in an engineering management role
- Proven experience leading cross-functional teams including engineers, product owners, and/or designers
- Hands-on background with AWS
- Familiarity with AWS security services and a strong grasp of secure development practices
- Strong architectural skills with the ability to design and review distributed, cloud-native systems
- Experience running Agile/Scrum teams with a track record of on-time, high-quality delivery
- Demonstrated program management skills — tracking milestones, managing risks, and communicating status
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, for partnering effectively with US-based stakeholders
- Comfortable maintaining 3+ hours of overlap with US Central Time, with flexibility as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working alongside US-based technology teams in a remote or distributed model
- Exposure to healthcare technology, digital health, or other security-sensitive software environments
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, Security Specialty, or DevOps Engineer)
- Experience with security frameworks

Pay: ₹800,000.00 - ₹1,200,000.00 per year
