Hiring: Tax Associate / Tax Professional – Direct Tax & Litigation

Location: Kolkata
Experience: 2–6 years
Qualification: CA preferred
Employment: Full-time

About the Role

We are looking for a Tax Associate / mid-level Tax Professional with a strong interest in Direct Tax, Tax Advisory, Legal Research and Litigation.

The role is ideal for a professional who enjoys interpreting tax laws, analysing case laws, drafting submissions and working on contentious tax matters, and is looking to build a long-term career in Direct Tax & Litigation.

Key Responsibilities

Handle and assist with Direct Tax assessments, reassessments, notices, appeals and litigation.
Conduct research on the Income-tax Act, Rules, circulars, notifications and judicial precedents.
Draft responses to tax notices, submissions, appeal documents, written arguments and tax opinions.
Assist in matters before Income Tax Authorities, CIT(A), ITAT and other relevant forums.
Analyse complex tax issues and develop legally sustainable tax positions.
Assist in Direct Tax advisory and opinion assignments.
Undertake detailed legal and tax research and prepare technical notes.
Track judicial and legislative developments in direct taxation.
Work closely with senior professionals, clients and legal/tax advisors on contentious matters.

Who Are We Looking For?

CA qualified candidates preferred.
2–6 years of relevant experience in Direct Tax, Tax Advisory, Tax Litigation or Tax Law.
Strong interest in Direct Tax and legal/litigation work.
Good knowledge of the Indian Income-tax Act and direct tax framework.
Strong analytical, legal research and drafting skills.
Ability to independently research tax issues and interpret case laws.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Prior exposure to assessments, appeals or litigation will be an advantage.

Important Eligibility Criteria

Location: Kolkata
The candidate should be a full-time working professional.
The candidate should not be currently pursuing any professional course or qualification alongside employment.
Candidates seeking a long-term career in Direct Tax & Litigation will be preferred.
Candidates with a genuine interest in tax law, legal research and contentious tax matters are encouraged to apply.
