We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Microbiologist to lead our Microbiology Department and contribute to maintaining the highest standards of laboratory excellence.
Job Summary
The Microbiologist will be responsible for overseeing the complete functioning of the Microbiology Laboratory, ensuring quality, compliance, operational efficiency, and accurate reporting. The role requires strong technical expertise in microbiological testing, team leadership capabilities, and experience in managing diagnostic laboratory operations. Knowledge and hands-on experience in Serology will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations
- Lead and manage day-to-day activities of the Microbiology Laboratory.
- Supervise microbiological testing, culture processing, identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality reporting of microbiology results.
- Monitor laboratory workflows and optimize turnaround times (TAT).
- Review and validate test results before final release.
Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and supervise microbiologists, technicians, and laboratory staff.
- Conduct regular training and competency assessments for laboratory personnel.
- Develop a high-performance culture focused on quality and patient care.
- Manage manpower planning, scheduling, and performance monitoring.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to NABL, CAP, ISO, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Implement and monitor quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) programs.
- Participate in internal and external quality assurance activities.
- Maintain laboratory documentation, SOPs, records, and audit readiness.
Technical Expertise
- Provide expertise in:
- Clinical Microbiology
- Bacteriology
- Mycology
- Parasitology
- Molecular Microbiology (where applicable)
- Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring
- Support test method validation, verification, and implementation of new assays.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues and quality deviations.
Serology (Added Advantage)
- Support and guide serology testing processes.
- Review serological testing protocols and quality parameters.
- Collaborate with pathology and clinical teams for integrated diagnostic services.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Collaborate with clinicians, pathologists, and healthcare professionals regarding test interpretations and laboratory findings.
- Support business growth initiatives by introducing new tests and improving service delivery.
- Participate in scientific discussions, conferences, and continuing education programs.
Required Qualifications
- MD Microbiology from a recognized institution (Mandatory).
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in a Diagnostic Center, Clinical Laboratory, or Healthcare Diagnostics Organization.
- Proven experience in leading and managing microbiology laboratory teams.
- Strong understanding of laboratory quality systems and accreditation standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in NABL-accredited laboratories.
- Knowledge and experience in Serology testing and reporting.
- Exposure to laboratory automation systems and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
- Experience in implementing new diagnostic technologies and process improvements.
Pay: ₹90,000.00 - ₹150,000.00 per month
