Full job description

Location: SRM Madurai College for Engineering & Technology, Madurai
Department: Finance & Accounts
Reports To: Manager / Head – Finance & Accounts

Job Summary

Responsible for day-to-day accounting operations of the college, including student fee accounting, vendor payments, bank reconciliation, ledger scrutiny, statutory compliance, audit support and monthly financial MIS.

Key Responsibilities

Manage daily accounting transactions, vouchers, ledgers, cash and bank entries in ERP/Tally.
Monitor and reconcile student fee collections, receipts, refunds, concessions and outstanding fees.
Prepare Bank Reconciliation Statements (BRS) and ensure timely clearance of outstanding entries.
Verify purchase invoices, vendor bills, payment requests and supporting documents before processing.
Maintain vendor, student and general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of balances.
Handle TDS, GST and other applicable statutory compliances, including timely documentation and returns.
Prepare monthly MIS, expense statements, outstanding reports and management schedules.
Support monthly closing, budget monitoring and variance analysis.
Coordinate with internal, statutory and other institutional auditors and provide required schedules and documents.
Ensure proper maintenance of financial records, vouchers, supporting documents and audit files.
Coordinate with banks, vendors, departments and HO Finance for accounting and payment-related matters.
Monitor receivables, payables, advances and ageing reports and follow up for timely closure.
Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, approval processes and college accounting policies.
Identify accounting discrepancies and take corrective action in coordination with the reporting manager.

Qualification & Experience

B.Com / M.Com / MBA – Finance / CA Inter or equivalent.
8–12 years of experience in Accounts & Finance; experience in college / educational institution will be preferred.
Strong working knowledge of Tally/ERP and MS Excel.
Good knowledge of GST, TDS, bank reconciliation, ledger scrutiny and audit procedures.
Strong numerical, analytical and documentation skills.
Ability to manage deadlines and work independently with minimum supervision.

Timely BRS and ledger reconciliation.
Accurate and timely fee and vendor accounting.
Statutory compliance within prescribed timelines.
Timely submission of MIS and audit schedules.
Zero/minimum accounting discrepancies and audit observations.
Effective control over receivables, payables and outstanding balances.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
