Position Title : Sr. Mechanical Tool Design Engineer

Reports To : Mechanical Tool Design Lead
Position Summary : Primarily responsible for design and development of various types of tools such as injection thermoplastic/thermoset, compression, stamping, forming, bending and die cast tools required for Electrical Controlgear/Switchgear Products and Sub Systems. Other responsibilities involve start to finish ownership of Electrical Products - from specifications to design, prototype, and manufacturing. Collaborative work with Electrical, Electronics, and Product Engineers. Product level mechanical design including selection of material, conceptualization, prototyping, industrial design, detailed design, tool design and testing activities. To ensure all products (and designs) comply with defined performance, quality, industrialization, and manufacturing objectives and targets. Supports continuous improvement of product development, manufacturing and customer service.
Specific Responsibilities: Performs responsibilities based on knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of electromechanical and electronic products, as follows:
▪ Analyze/understand competitors’ design, technological interventions and manufacturing process methodology adapted in their products
▪ Design & develop creative concepts with an industrial design approach based on the primary and secondary research which are innovative and qualify for an IPR for the organization
▪ Design components, sub-assemblies, product assemblies and 2D drawings using cad software Inventor that shall deliver the expected performance while working in tandem with other technological domain elements of the product
▪ Design and develop various types of tools such as injection, compression, sheet metal, forming, bending, die cast tools and 2D drawings required for various Electro Mechanical products
▪ Work closely with vendors to create a prototype of a design in order to conduct testing/validation and modify the design based on the prototype test outcome
▪ Modifications to existing tools based on changes in functional requirements, customer complain/feedback, manufacturing inputs or performance improvements
▪ Product testing for validation of design throughout the design process till the launch of the product in the market
▪ Analyze test data to identify/make changes, enhance system performance, reliability, and eliminate defects
▪ Prepare and maintain document required across various phases of the design and development process
▪ Collaborate with manufacturing and tooling department to ensure that elements are built according to specifications
▪ Provide feedback to manufacturing/tooling teams to update specifications and requirements
▪ Provide post-production support as a part of Life Cycle Management of the product
▪ Ensure continued compliance of c3controls products and designs to required standards(ex. UL, CSA, CE RoHS, etc.).
▪ Participate in quality team meetings

Education, Other Requirements:
▪ B.E./ B. Tech in Mechanical/Tool design Engineering
▪ Expert level experience in tool design and manufacturing
▪ 5 ~ 8 years or more of relevant, applicable work experience, preferably in multinational, multicultural environment
▪ Knowledge of complete product design and developmentsystem
▪ Experience in development and certification testing of Electrical products
▪ An excellent experience of using 3D CAD software such asInventor and Auto Cad is a must
▪ Excellent knowledge of press tools and molds working and manufacturing process
▪ Expert level knowledge in the manufacturing techniques and processes
▪ Expert in defining the tool and mould specifications
▪ Good Knowledge of various engineering Plastic and metal material with their properties
▪ Knowledge of various process such as six sigma, ISO and Pokayoke is essential
▪ Innovative thinking and should have several/few patent under his/her credits
▪ Good communication skills and ability to work in challenging environment
▪ Strong technical aptitude a MUST
▪ Strong documentation and writing skills
Position type and hours of work:
This is a full time position, Monday to Friday, 11:00am – 8:00pm, 40 hrs per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required asjob duties demand
Working environment:
This job operates in a professional office setting. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, filing cabinets, scanners etc. The role also uses typical engineering test equipment such as soldering iron, meters, power supplies, oscilloscope etc.
