We are looking for a dynamic and result-oriented Purchase Head to lead our procurement function and support our expanding business.
Job Summary
The Purchase Head will be responsible for managing the complete procurement cycle for Nik Bakers, ensuring timely availability of quality raw materials, packaging materials, bakery equipment, café consumables, and operational supplies at competitive prices. The role requires strong vendor management, strategic sourcing, cost optimization, inventory planning, and cross-functional coordination to support multiple retail outlets and the central production unit.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Strategic Sourcing
- Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with the company's growth plans.
- Source high-quality bakery ingredients, dairy products, chocolates, dry fruits, packaging materials, café consumables, kitchen equipment, and maintenance supplies.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Identify and develop alternate vendors to ensure uninterrupted supply and competitive pricing.
- Ensure timely procurement for all outlets, production units, and new store launches.
Vendor Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers.
- Evaluate vendor performance on quality, pricing, delivery, and service.
- Conduct supplier audits and ensure compliance with company quality standards.
- Resolve supplier-related issues efficiently.
Cost Optimization
- Drive annual procurement cost-saving initiatives.
- Monitor market price trends and identify opportunities for better sourcing.
- Improve procurement efficiency while maintaining product quality.
- Manage procurement budgets and purchase expenditures effectively.
Inventory & Supply Planning
- Coordinate with Production, Warehouse, Finance, and Operations teams to forecast procurement requirements.
- Ensure optimum inventory levels and prevent stock shortages or excess inventory.
- Support demand planning and inventory optimization initiatives.
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure procurement complies with company policies and food safety standards.
- Maintain vendor documentation, purchase records, and statutory compliance.
- Coordinate with the Quality team to ensure all materials meet approved specifications.
MIS & Reporting
- Prepare procurement reports and MIS related to:
- Purchase Spend
- Cost Savings
- Vendor Performance
- Inventory Status
- Purchase Price Variance
- Maintain accurate procurement data through the ERP system.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor the procurement team.
- Establish procurement SOPs and improve purchasing processes.
- Work closely with all departments to ensure smooth business operations.
Desired Candidate ProfileQualification
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- MBA in Supply Chain, Operations, or Procurement will be preferred.
Experience
- 8–15 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management.
- At least 3–5 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in Bakery, FMCG, Food Manufacturing, Café Chains, Hospitality, or Retail is preferred.
- Experience managing procurement for multiple outlets and a central kitchen is an advantage.
