Full job description

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer intern to join our team and contribute to the development and maintenance of our Hospital Information System (HIS) software. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in PHP-based application development, particularly with the Laravel framework, and a solid understanding of cloud computing technologies. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing our healthcare software solutions to ensure they meet the needs of hospitals and medical professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain PHP-based Hospital Information System (HIS) software using the Laravel framework.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, analyze user needs, and deliver high-quality software solutions.
Develop and integrate modules for patient management, appointment scheduling, billing, electronic health records (EHR), and other healthcare-related functionalities.
Optimize application performance, scalability, and security to ensure seamless operation in a hospital environment.
Work with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) to deploy, manage, and scale applications.
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and issues in a timely manner.
Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in PHP, Laravel, cloud computing, and healthcare technology.
Participate in code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing to maintain high coding standards.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and data security standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in PHP and Laravel framework for web application development.
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and MVC architecture.
Experience in developing and deploying applications on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.).
Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery) is a plus.
Knowledge of RESTful APIs and integration with third-party systems.
Experience with database management systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) and query optimization.
Understanding of healthcare software systems and workflows is highly desirable.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
Knowledge of microservices architecture.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Understanding of data security and privacy standards in healthcare (e.g., HIPAA).
