QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: GNM / B.Sc Nursing - Minimum 3 years of experience in the area of posting preferred

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY :
- The Staff Nurse is responsible for the provision of quality patient care by maintaining accurate records and in the maintenance of professional standards through continuing education and development.
- The Staff Nurse is also responsible for the orientation and induction training for new and junior Staff Nurses, ANMs, and GDAs
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
l Patient Care :
Assessment:
u To obtain and document a patient assessment which incorporates all available data /information.
u To utilize techniques of observation, interview, measurement and physical
examination in making an assessment.
u To identify from assessment actual and potential problems in collaboration with
patient and senior nursing personnel.
Planning:
To plan and document a nursing care plan using the nursing process. Plan priorities of nursing care.
To refer problems with less predictable outcomes to senior nursing personnel.
To discuss the nursing care plan with the patient.
To continually update the nursing care plan as the patient's status demands.
To commence discharged planning as soon as it is feasible in co-operation with
patient and significant others. Demonstrate the same in the written care plan.
Implementation:
u To deliver care using the nursing process, setting priorities in the delivery of care.
u To delegate and supervise nursing care delivered by junior Staff Nurses.
u To coordinate care delivered by other health professionals.
Evaluation:
u To evaluate each shift aspect of nursing intervention and document.
u To revise care plans if outcomes cannot be met.
u To communicate evaluation and subsequent plan to the patient/significant others and
healthcare team.
l Quality Assurance :
u To inform Nurse Manager / Sister In-charge of malfunctioning equipment.
u To liaise with the Nurse Manager in the assessment of equipment and medical consumable item requirements.
u To utilize resources effectively and efficiently.
u To participate in Nursing Quality Assurance programs.
u To identify unsafe care practices and contribute to corrective action.
l Liaison And Communication :
u To support hospital policies and procedures.
u To attend nursing training on a regular basis.
l Personal And Professional :
u To maintain professionalism at all times.
u To maintain current trends in nursing practice and management through formal
education and self-development efforts.
u To maintain professional knowledge, skills and accept responsibility for one's own education and career development.
u Taking over from the previous shift nurse.
u Checks and takes over-of the items of bedside checklist.
u Renders nursing care to assigned group of patients.
Bed making.
Shaving and preparing the patients in cases of operations and other bedside procedures.
Giving enema.
Help the Doctors in dressings.
Giving tepid and cold sponging for patients with high grade fever.
Supervise the distribution of food to the patients.
u Accompanies the patient from ward to operation theatre, diagnostic department while patients are with I.V. on, etc.
u .Observes and reports symptoms and condition of patients as and when necessary to doctor.
u Takes and records TPR, BP, administers medication, notes reaction, sets up treatment trays, prepares for dressing and other procedure and assists physician
u Takes rounds with doctors.
u Assists the registered Staff Nurse in admission, discharges, transfer in and transfer out of patients.
u Proper documentation and reporting to senior staff nurse / supervisors regarding any mishaps or untoward incidents, happening in the absence of the Nurse Manager / Sister Incharge.
u Giving feedback to Senior staff nurse / Team Leader time to time in relation to patient care and ward management.
u Giving health teaching to the assigned patients and relations.
u Assists Nurse Manager / Sister Incharge as need arises in supervision of ANM/ GDA and housekeeping staff to maintain clean and healthy environment on the floor.
u Checks the inventory, CSSD items, Dressing Trolley, Procedure trolley, Crash cart and Biomedical equipment in each shift.
u Assist Senior Staff Nurse in supervision of nursing student / ANMs/GDA.
u Helps new appointees or junior staff nurses as well as private Nurses if any working under her in understanding and following the hospital policies.
u Supervise ANM/GDA for end of life care.
u Participates in clinical, incidental teachings and in-service programs.
u Any other duty assigned from time to time.
SKILLS:
l Effective oral and communication skills
l Certified Basic Life Support training
l Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge in assisting bed side procedures such as urinary catheterization, naso-gastric tube insertion, etc.
l Ability to understand the extent of delegated authority and responsibility, accountable for own actions, be responsible for the standard of care delivered to assigned patients.

Pay: ₹19,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
