The Index Engineering team at S&P Dow Jones Indices develops bespoke index solutions for institutional clients across global financial markets. This role focuses primarily on financial data exploration, index research, quantitative analysis, and process improvement, where Python is used as an analytical tool to solve business problems.

The Index Engineering team designs and develops bespoke equity indices for institutional clients across global financial markets. Our team members, based in New York, New Jersey, and Mumbai, combine financial market research, index methodology, quantitative analysis, and technology to create investment solutions.
This internship is ideal for students interested in quantitative finance, financial markets, and using python as a tool for financial analysis rather than traditional software development.
The Index Engineering team contributes to the development and launch of bespoke index products that serve a diverse global client base.
In this role, you will collaborate with experienced analysts and engineers on internal process improvements, exploratory research initiatives, and technology enhancements that drive operational efficiency and support innovation within the team.
Your work will help improve analytical workflows while providing valuable exposure to global financial markets and quantitative investing.
Build a strong foundation for careers in Quantitative Finance, Financial Analytics, Index Engineering, Investment Research, or Financial Data Science.
Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Financial Engineering, Data Science, or another quantitative discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding one or more of the following is an advantage - financial markets, ETFs, passive investing, or index concepts.
