Position: Production Manager
Department: Production & Operations
Reporting To: Director / Plant Head
The Production Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling all manufacturing activities to ensure production targets, quality standards, delivery schedules, and cost objectives are achieved. The role involves managing CNC Turning, VMC, HMC, CNC Grinding, Wire Cut, Assembly, Maintenance, and Shop Floor Operations while ensuring optimum utilization of manpower, machines, materials, and resources.
- Develop and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production plans.
- Ensure production targets are achieved as per customer requirements and delivery schedules.
- Monitor production performance, machine utilization, and shop floor productivity.
- Coordinate with Purchase, Stores, Quality, and Maintenance departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- Manage CNC Turning, VMC, HMC, CNC Grinding, Wire Cut, and Assembly operations.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, tooling, and materials.
- Monitor machine loading, cycle time, setup time, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and reduce manufacturing costs.
- Ensure proper implementation of SOPs and process controls.
- Ensure products are manufactured as per engineering drawings and quality standards.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams to reduce rejection, rework, and customer complaints.
- Monitor process capability and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with ISO and company quality systems.
- Lead and manage supervisors, engineers, operators, and helpers.
- Conduct manpower planning and workforce allocation.
- Train and develop employees on technical and operational requirements.
- Monitor discipline, attendance, performance, and employee engagement.
- Conduct regular production review meetings.
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Ensure machine health and equipment reliability.
- Minimize machine downtime and improve equipment efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures, PPE usage, and 5S practices.
- Promote a safe and organized workplace culture.
- Review daily production reports and KPI dashboards.
- Monitor productivity, efficiency, rejection, downtime, and delivery performance.
- Present production status and improvement plans to management.
- Ensure proper maintenance of production records and documentation.
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Additional certifications in Production Management, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Operations Management will be an added advantage.
- 8–15 years of experience in manufacturing and production management.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Production Manager or Senior Production Supervisor role.
- Experience in CNC machining, machine tool manufacturing, precision engineering, or heavy engineering industry preferred.
- Strong knowledge of CNC Turning, VMC, HMC, CNC Grinding, and Wire Cut operations.
- Knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, and Mitsubishi controllers.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T;, and process sheets.
- Knowledge of machining parameters, cutting tools, fixtures, and productivity improvement.
- Strong leadership and manpower management skills.
- Knowledge of Production Planning, OEE, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S.
- ERP, MIS reporting, and MS Excel proficiency.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
