Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Assistant Manager / Manager for Stamping Tool Design. This role is responsible for overseeing end-to-end tool room operations, optimizing tool design processes, and managing press shop operations for high-precision sheet metal stamping components. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in tool maintenance, vendor development, and new product development (NPD), alongside a strong track record of leading cross-functional teams and implementing lean manufacturing methodologies.

Core Responsibilities
1. Tool Room & Press Shop Management
Oversee complete tool room operations to ensure the timely progressive, tandem, transfer, and stage tools.
Lead and mentor a team of toolmakers and technicians through the manufacturing, repair, modification, and tryout of high-precision press tools, Coordinate directly press shop to achieve a machine uptime of over 95% with minimal technical breakdowns, Maintain and troubleshoot complex progressive and tandem press tools to continuously improve tool life, reliability, and stamping quality.
2. Tool Design & Process Optimization
Develop, design, optimize plans, die layouts, operation intricate sheet metal stamping components.
Design develops high-precision jigs, fixtures, gauges, standardizing designs to minimize cost increase floor efficiency.
Conduct thorough feasibility studies, cycle time analyses, and technical tooling cost estimations for NPD
Incorporate robust poka-yoke (error-proofing) mechanisms tool designs maintain, structured process documentation.
3. New Product Development (NPD) & Project Management
Plan, execute, tooling strategies new products and engineering variants strictly aligned with NPD timelines.
Manage tooling projects seamlessly initial concept stage right through to final commercial production.
Execute rigorous (RCA) on tool and fixture failures, immediately deploying corrective and preventive actions.
4. Vendor Development & Procurement
Manage external tooling vendor’s tool manufacturing spare part procurement. Lead technical financial vendor negotiations while conducting feasibility and tooling cost-benefit analyses.
Audit vendor quality systems to guarantee absolute compliance with corporate quality, delivery standards
5. Quality Compliance & Lean Manufacturing
Ensure absolute compliance with automotive international quality frameworks including IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and internal safety standards. Drive continuous improvement initiatives on the floor utilizing Lean, 5S, Kaizen, TPM, and SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die) to optimize changeover efficiency.
Analyze production data systematically to eliminate manufacturing bottlenecks, minimize defects, reduce overall rework.
Technical Skill Set & Tools
Core Domain: Deep expertise in Tool Room Management, Press Shop Operations, Progressive/Tandem/Transfer Dies, and Sheet Metal Stamping.
Software & Layouts: Proficiency in AutoCAD and engineering design software; strong grasp of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Systems: Functional hands-on experience working within ERP software corporate manufacturing execution systems.
