Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day activities of the tool room for all injection moulding tools.
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance (PM) of moulds as per schedule.
- Ensure quick and effective breakdown maintenance of moulds to minimize machine downtime.
- Coordinate with Production and Process teams for mould availability and changeovers.
- Supervise tool room technicians, fitters, and operators.
- Ensure proper storage, handling and identification of moulds and tool room assets.
- Maintain complete records of mould history, breakdowns, modifications and spare parts.
- Analyze recurring mould issues and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Support new mould trials, validations and sampling activities.
- Coordinate with external vendors for mould repair, refurbishment and spare parts.
- Ensure compliance with safety rules, housekeeping (5S) and tool room discipline.
- Control tool room consumables and spares inventory.
- Support continuous improvement activities related to mould performance and cycle time.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of injection moulding tools (single cavity, multi-cavity, hot runner, cold runner, inserts, sliders, lifters, etc.).
- Good understanding of mould construction, cooling systems, venting and ejection systems.
- Ability to read and understand mould and component drawings.
- Root cause analysis and troubleshooting of mould-related defects.
- Team handling and leadership skills.
- Good coordination and communication skills with production and quality teams.
Qualification
- Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical / Tool & Die / Production Engineering.
Experience
- Minimum 6–10 years of experience in injection moulding tool room operations.
- At least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
