Job Description – Medical Officer (Mobile Medical Unit - MMU)
Position: Medical Officer – Mobile Medical Unit (MMU)
Location: Odisha, Talcher

Reports to: Project Manager / Medical Coordinator
Job Summary:
The Medical Officer for the Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) will be responsible for providing primary healthcare services in remote and underserved areas. They will diagnose and treat patients, handle emergencies, ensure compliance with medical protocols, and promote health awareness. The role requires frequent travel as per the MMU schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducted medical consultations and diagnosed patients in the MMU.
- Provide treatment, prescribe medications, and refer patients to higher medical centres when necessary.
- Handle emergency cases and provide first aid.
- Maintain accurate patient records and reports.
- Supervise paramedical and nursing staff in the MMU.
- Ensure proper implementation of government/public health programs.
- Conduct health awareness and preventive care sessions for the community.
- Maintain medical equipment, and supplies, and ensure sanitation in the MMU.
- Adhere to medical ethics, safety protocols, and healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with local health authorities and organizations for better healthcare outreach.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
- MBBS from a recognized institution (mandatory).
- MD/MS/DNB in a relevant specialization (preferred but not mandatory).
- Valid Medical Council Registration (State/National).
Experience:
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in clinical practice, emergency care, or public health.
- Experience in rural healthcare or working with mobile medical units is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in remote locations and handle medical emergencies.
- Knowledge of public health programs and rural healthcare challenges.
- Proficiency in maintaining digital and physical medical records.
