PURPOSE
Miri Piri Academy is seeking a passionate, creative, and qualified IGCSE Art & Design Teacher to inspire students across all grade levels. The ideal candidate will deliver an engaging, skills-based curriculum that prepares secondary students for Cambridge IGCSE examinations while fostering self-expression, critical thinking, and artistic growth across the younger grades. In addition to classroom instruction, this role plays a vital part in bringing the campus to life through school displays and contributing to our vibrant, community-oriented environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Academic & IGCSE Instruction:
● Curriculum Delivery: Deliver high-quality Art & Design instruction across all grades, with a specific focus on leading the Cambridge IGCSE Art & Design (0400) syllabus for secondary students.
● Exam Preparation: Guide IGCSE students through portfolio development, coursework component requirements, and externally set assignments, ensuring alignment with Cambridge assessment criteria.
● Lesson Design: Design dynamic lessons that explore diverse mediums, techniques, art history, and cultural traditions, scaffolding skills from primary levels up to examination standards.
● Assessment & Feedback: Use a variety of formative and summative assessment methods, providing constructive feedback tailored to IGCSE grading rubrics.
● Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student performance, portfolio milestones, and artistic development.
Campus Creativity and Duty:
● School Displays: Take ownership of beautifying the campus by designing, organizing, and maintaining vibrant student art displays for school events, galleries, and common areas.
● Substitution Duty: Provide classroom coverage and support for colleagues during substitution periods as assigned.
Community and School Participation:
● Supervision Duties: Participate in scheduled snack and lunch break supervision.
● Committee Service: Serve on one school committee (e.g., anti-bullying committee) and contribute to initiatives that enhance student life and school culture.
● Holiday Preparation and Celebration: Collaborate in organizing school celebrations and cultural events such as Diwali and Baisakhi.
● Trip Participation: Possibly join major school trips, including Induction Camp and Winter Humanology Camp.
● Spiritual Education: Participate in staff spiritual development program as part of the school’s ongoing professional and personal growth.
Reporting and Documentation:
● Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress.
● Complete report cards, CPOMs entries (safeguarding and pastoral notes), and other required documentation in a timely manner.
● Communicate regularly with students and families regarding artistic growth and engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
● Teaching experience at the primary and/or secondary school level.
● Proven experience teaching the Cambridge IGCSE Art & Design curriculum and a strong understanding of Cambridge assessment standards and portfolio moderation.
● Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage students of all age groups.
● A diverse artistic portfolio and knowledge of various mediums (painting, sculpting, digital art, etc.).
● Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
● Willingness to participate in the spiritual and community life of the school, including Kundalini Yoga traditions (training will be provided).
