With an annual production capacity of over 500,000 metric tonnes, the company has crossed a turnover of ₹1,000 crore in 2026 and is targeting ₹1,500 crore in FY 2027. The company is preparing for an IPO and employs approximately 720 people across its corporate office and plants, with sales offices in Mumbai and Bengaluru.
MKK serves sectors including construction, transportation, energy, warehousing, and infrastructure, and exports pipes and tubes to Europe and the United States. Its manufacturing plants in Ranipet include multiple tube and cold-forming mills and a high-capacity hot-dip galvanising facility for long steel structures. Product offerings include:
· ERW steel pipes and tubes in circular, square, rectangular, hexagonal, and octagonal sections
· Galvanised tubes, sections, and structures with in-house galvanising capability
· Structural steel products such as purlins, shutters, and colour-coated roofing sheets

5. Role Purpose
Support the Operations Excellence function by driving process improvements, monitoring performance metrics, and implementing lean initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and sustainability across steel manufacturing operations.
6. Role Dimensions
· The role supports plant-wide operational excellence initiatives across production, maintenance, supply chain management, and human resources, with a focus on measurable improvements in productivity, yield, energy efficiency, cost, quality, and safety.
1. Process Improvement & Lean Initiatives
· Identify process bottlenecks and support the implementation of Lean and Kaizen improvement projects
· Support Six Sigma initiatives focused on defect reduction and yield improvement
· Use structured problem-solving methods to evaluate process losses and improvement opportunities
· Assist teams in sustaining agreed process improvements and standard work practices
2. Performance Monitoring & Management Reporting
· Track operational KPIs including plant utilisation, OTIF, yield percentage, and energy efficiency
· Prepare accurate MIS reports and dashboards for management review
· Analyse performance trends, highlight deviations, and support timely recovery actions
· Coordinate with process owners to validate data and monitor improvement commitments
3. Quality, Standards & Corrective Action
· Support adherence to applicable metallurgical standards and ISO and BIS requirements
· Conduct root cause analysis for quality and process deviations
· Support the definition, implementation, and follow-up of corrective and preventive actions
· Work with production and quality teams to reduce defects, scrap, and recurring process variation
4. Cost & Resource Efficiency
· Monitor raw material usage, energy consumption, and maintenance costs
· Identify avoidable losses and recommend practical cost-saving measures
· Support implementation of approved resource-efficiency and cost-reduction initiatives
· Measure and report the operational and financial impact of improvement projects
5. Safety, Compliance & Sustainability
· Promote safe work practices and compliance with applicable statutory norms
· Support operational initiatives aligned with ESG and sustainability goals
· Include safety and environmental considerations in process-improvement activities
· Monitor action closure for safety or sustainability gaps associated with assigned projects
6. Cross-functional Collaboration & Capability Building
· Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, SCM, and HR on operational excellence projects
· Assist with training programmes that build Lean, problem-solving, and continuous-improvement capability
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
· Support scrap reduction initiatives delivering at least 10% year-on-year improvement
· Contribute to annual productivity improvement of at least 5%
· Assist in achieving annual energy-efficiency improvement of at least 3%
· Maintain zero major safety incidents within the role’s area of influence
· Timely and accurate reporting of plant utilisation, OTIF, yield, and energy-efficiency metrics
Effective closure and sustained implementation of assigned improvement and corrective-action projects
7. Ideal Candidate Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Production Engineering
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent exposure is preferred
Experience:
- 3–6 years of experience in the steel or heavy manufacturing sector
- Hands-on exposure to operational excellence and continuous-improvement projects
- Practical understanding of steel manufacturing processes, including rolling, cutting, and finishing
Key Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of steel manufacturing processes, particularly rolling, cutting, and finishing
- Working knowledge of Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis methods
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and performance-monitoring skills
- Proficiency in ERP or MES systems and Excel-based reporting
- Ability to collaborate effectively across Production, Maintenance, SCM, HR, and other functions
