Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Data Modeler with strong expertise in data modelling, data warehousing, SQL, and enterprise data architecture. The candidate will be responsible for designing scalable, business-friendly, and high-performing data models to support analytics, reporting, and downstream data consumption across hospitality and hotel operations.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in building conceptual, logical, and physical data models, designing star schemas, dimension and fact tables, and working closely with data engineers, business analysts, architects, and reporting teams. Experience in the hotel / hospitality domain is preferred, and knowledge of Oracle OPERA PMS is a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise data warehouse and analytics platforms.
Create robust dimensional models, including facts, dimensions, hierarchies, bridge tables, slowly changing dimensions, and conformed dimensions.
Work with business teams to understand hospitality business processes such as reservations, guest profiles, room stays, folios, payments, rates, occupancy, revenue, housekeeping, front office, and guest lifecycle.
Analyse source systems and define data structures, relationships, business keys, surrogate keys, grain, measures, and hierarchies.
Translate business requirements into scalable data models that support reporting, dashboards, KPIs, regulatory needs, and advanced analytics.
Collaborate with data engineers to ensure models are implemented correctly in the data warehouse.
Write and review complex SQL queries for data profiling, validation, reconciliation, and model testing.
Define naming standards, data definitions, metadata, data lineage, and modelling best practices.
Identify data quality issues, duplicate records, missing relationships, and source-to-target mapping gaps.
Prepare and maintain data model documentation, source-to-target mappings, entity relationship diagrams, data dictionaries, and business glossaries.
Support performance optimization by designing efficient table structures, partitioning/clustering strategies, indexing recommendations, and query-friendly data models.
Work with architects and governance teams to ensure data models align with enterprise standards, security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
Required Skills and Experience
Strong hands-on experience as a Data Modeler / Data Warehouse Modeler / Data Architect.
Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, including dimensional modelling, star schema, snowflake schema, facts, dimensions, SCD Type 1/2, surrogate keys, and conformed dimensions.
Strong SQL skills for data analysis, profiling, validation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting.
Experience in designing models for analytics and BI consumption.
Good understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, data integration, and source-to-target mapping.
Ability to analyse complex source systems and convert them into clean, business-oriented data models.
Experience with data modelling tools such as Erwin, ER/Studio, SQLDBM or similar tools.
Strong documentation skills, including data dictionaries, mapping documents, business definitions, and model design documents.
Good understanding of data governance, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality principles.
Ability to work with business users, data engineers, architects, QA teams, and reporting teams.
Good to Have
Experience in the hotel, hospitality, casino, resort, travel, or property management domain.
Knowledge of Oracle OPERA PMS and its core hospitality entities such as guests, profiles, reservations, stays, rooms, rate codes, packages, folios, payments, transactions, and housekeeping.
Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake
Knowledge of modern data engineering tools such as Coalesce, Fivetran, Airflow, or similar platforms.
