Job Summary

The Consultant Psychiatrist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with mental, emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric disorders. The role involves conducting psychiatric assessments, prescribing medications, providing psychotherapy when required, leading multidisciplinary treatment planning, and ensuring high standards of patient care.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Assessment & Diagnosis

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental status examinations.
Diagnose mental health disorders according to accepted clinical guidelines.
Assess risk factors including suicide, self-harm, aggression, and substance abuse.
Develop individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans.

Patient Management

Provide outpatient (OPD), inpatient (IPD), emergency, and teleconsultation psychiatric services.
Prescribe, review, and monitor psychotropic medications.
Manage acute psychiatric emergencies and behavioral crises.
Review patient progress and modify treatment plans as required.
Conduct follow-up consultations and discharge planning.

Psychotherapy & Counseling

Provide supportive psychotherapy and counseling when appropriate.
Guide patients and families regarding illness, treatment, and recovery.
Participate in family meetings and psychoeducation sessions.

Multidisciplinary Coordination

Work closely with psychologists, psychiatric social workers, nursing staff, occupational therapists, and counselors.
Lead case discussions and treatment planning meetings.
Supervise and guide junior doctors and clinical staff.

Documentation & Compliance

Maintain accurate medical records, case notes, prescriptions, and discharge summaries.
Ensure compliance with Mental Healthcare Act, NABH standards, and hospital policies.
Complete medical certificates, reports, and medico-legal documentation when required.

Quality & Administration

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.
Support NABH accreditation activities and departmental policies.
Attend departmental meetings, CMEs, and professional development programs.

Community & Awareness Activities

Participate in mental health awareness programs, camps, corporate wellness programs, and community outreach activities.
Promote mental health education and preventive psychiatry initiatives.

Qualifications

MBBS with MD/DNB Psychiatry.
Valid Medical Council Registration.
Fellowship or additional training in Psychiatry (preferred).

Skills Required

Strong clinical diagnostic and treatment skills.
Excellent communication and counseling abilities.
Crisis intervention and emergency management skills.
Leadership and team management capabilities.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.

Working Conditions

OPD, IPD, emergency, and on-call responsibilities.
Participation in telepsychiatry services as required.
Flexible working hours based on patient and hospital requirements.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Quality of clinical documentation.
Treatment compliance and follow-up rates.
Contribution to quality initiatives and NABH compliance.
Participation in community outreach and awareness programs.

Pay: ₹80,000.00 per month
